Oil Temp Sensor

Hey all,

I just wanted to know if oil temperature sensors are a fairly generic part? My Shadow Pro oil temp gauge has been stuffed since I washed my engine bay, and I think it is most likely to be the sensor as the gauge does it's normal thing when I disconnect it from the sensor. But Shadow Pro don't sell replacement parts from what I can find, so rather than buying a whole new gauge kit to replace it, wanted to see if I could find a replacement sensor.
