Okay so I went through the FAQ and a lot of the questions I have are answered there except the thread links are dead so I figure I'd ask in a new thread.

I live in SA and I need/ was wondering about the following;

Mine is 2003 Non-premium

  • Mechanics

  • Best mechanic to get it serviced (general and major)

  • Bodywork

  • Thinking about getting it detailed, has a few scratches
  • Need some bodywork fixed on it where is the best place to go? (SA)

  • Electronics

  • Left window is not working too well, only way to make it move is to give it a shake :/ new motor?
  • Best place to get the above done (SA)
  • Front right (top) light is out, is that just a bulb change? where do i get those bulbs?

  • Electronics - Audio

  • Want to get a custom stereo with iphone/USB capability (TV screen isn't important) steering wheel buttons would be nice if affordable (error f3 on cd so i figure may aswell get a whole new one)
  • If I can get my iPhone to work with the stock that would be handy for the time being! (the ipod integration thread link from the FAQ is dead)
  • Speaker/sub options?
  • Best place to get the above done (SA)

  • Misc

  • I need a jack, no idea where I can get one
  • Only got one car key and boot button won't work (FAQ thread link is dead) dont have immobiliser code
  • Good place to buy some nice "down to earth" priced wheels

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated! Phones numbers/email addresses or websites for contacts appreciated!

a few of us are quite knowledgeable and can help, depends on which end of town youre in.

headlight is easy, just fiddly

window motor is easy, just fiddly

ipod cable costs just a few dollars to make

jack from a 350z or go to nisswreck

any idea of desired wheel size? budget?

i might be interested in your factory stereo/trim panel if you upgrade

Me and my mate beleive it or not, changed the bulb without taking the bumper off. I have skinny wrists and managed to get my hand in there and get the old out and the new in. Not quite sure if it touched anything, it's highly likely though as you can't see what your doing lol.

Umm, well im looking just to replace the stock ones i think they're 18s.. Thinking about going with black budget wise not heaps fussed but not extremely pricey obviously!

I live down at golden grove, but work near the city.

Yeh thinking about upgrading, but not fussed i just want the radio to work and also to be able to play usb or ipod. What do i need to make the cable?

Checking nisswreck now! Are they good for servicing and bodywork also?

Do use know what halogen is meant to go in there?

Also the window motor, how will i know if it need replacing? It sorta works but sometimes gets stuck? :/

There is a DIY on the forum floating around somewhere for the window. Cheap but time consuming, seen great results though

hey man

i had most of your problems as well, but before i bought my car i told the guy to fix up the window before i picked it up two days before which he did for free ;). Only thing was the bloody rat cracked the bumber and parked it where i couldn't see the front.Guess i was too excited for my first car......

hi mate,im also in SA,and also have a V35.

to answer a few of your questions:

- i have found Sinergy Motorsport excellent to deal with, they have a lot of experience with V35s from regular servicing to tuning brakes, suspension, and engine work eg a couple of HKS GTsupercharger kits. very professional and good service.

- i managed to replace the parker light bulbs myself without removing any part of the car,but removing the front wheels and plastic guards is fairly quick and alows you easier access to the main bulbs

- try second hand japanese wheels?maybe R34 GTR rims?

Cheers, yeh i figured out the button for the boot. I might head down to sinergy motorsport and see what they have to say!

Hmm im gonna check out the do it yourself guide for the lights hopefully i don't screw it up haha

Hi dFed, I live near you and may be interested in your current wheels if you upgrade. What wheels do you have at the moment?

Also, did you find out about getting another key made - I'm in the same boat & want a second key with chip, not too worried about the remote keys though.

Yeh will do! Ill probably replace them in the next few months!

As for the key, I saw them on eBay as well but I was reason somewhere that you need to get Nissan to activate it or something..? Let us know how you go! (mine is also a 3 button)

    • Seat of the pants assessment of the new intake: The car is way less "doughy" when hitting the loud pedal, especially off idle when stopped or in traffic, I did use a cheapo lazer thermal thingo to measure the temp around where the pod filter got its air, it was between 55 - 60°C, in saying this the car was shut off and not moving, so the OEM intake pipe was not supplying any fresh air to where the pod was when the car was at least moving A weird bonus was induction noise on the throttle in the cabin increased a bit,  I was worried that I was actually going to lose some of that induction noise I love so much, outside though, when I got the daughter to do a WOT drive by pass for me, the induction noise has increased alot when on the throttle, not quite ITB doort, but well up there I'm extremely happy with the results and have been exploring the country roads in the region  As for house mods: 1.New front fence is up and is awesome, it really upgraded how the joint looks from the street, and the added security is nice 2. Electricians have replace some interior lights, and with more lighting in the garage, a few new motion detecting lights out the front above the garage, front room, and at the front door, which I have already found heaps helpful coming and going, also now has fancy pants CCTV all round the house The only hold point for power though is the solar and batteries due to supply issues, although this will happen over the next few weeks 3. I have done a heap of landscaping out the front and I'm almost ready to do a new small retaining wall with some nice blocks to replace the brick and cemented in rocks around the raised garden beds cemented in river stone "was the fashion at the time" the house was built. I currently have a pallet of retaining wall blocks and 2 bulka bags of 20mm blue metal to replace the wood chip that is in the raised garden beds around the house 4. I now have 3 big raised garden beds for out the back to grow some vegetables, about 70cm high, 200cm long and 100cm wide 5. My 2 compost bins are already pretty full with brown, green and kitchen waste from the landscaping I'vedone so far, but they will probably take a few months to break down, so anything else that gets chopped, trimmed, and kitchen waste will just start filling the base of the raised garden beds to about 30cm before I start throwing 40cm of good compost, and stuff, for the vegetables to grow in, I'll need a few ton of compost and soil, but the local supplier can sent me bulka bags of the stuff Basically the logs, wood chips and a few strategically placed rocks for drainage, will give the beds some good organic materials down low to break down over time, and they will hold moisture during the warmer months to save the water in my big arse water tank if we don't get alot of rain So, all in all, the car and house mods are going well, and I'm really enjoying being retired, I sleep in too 0700 and slowly plod around inside until I feel like actually doing anything, and only work in the yard for as long as want, which has actually been alot over the last few weeks,  although when you look at it, it seems that not a huge amount of work has been done,  until I look at the before I started the work pics Happy days and good times indeed
    • hahaha yeah. Plan is to get side skirts and probably just rear pods. But going to do them one-by-one. I've got a set that I really like from RHDJapen, but that one isn't shipped to AU. So need to find someone who can get it for me
    • Here's an idea, answer the questions I asked you as they are trying to work out WHY the LSD will be binding up in a straight line.
    • You haven't driven many modern cars then have you? Most of them have sfa steering feel with their stupid electric bullshit steering systems.
