Just make sure what ever pot he is doing that the piston is at TDC or else it's harder to clean or know what's in there, btw is it just slightly cross threaded or fully f*ked? Cuz he should really only need to tap it not put a hellicoil through it. Plattsy
not sure until he actually looks at it, i think the helicoil is worse case scenario.... Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/406673-ohhh-no/page/2/#findComment-6489645 Share on other sites
Plattsy
he tapped it. said the spark plug wasn't going all the way would have lost a lot of compression and the coil pack would have misfired. only charged 100 bucks. standard call out fee i think. made sure there was no swarf in the piston and then made sure the spark plug went all the way in and correctly. ill let you know how she drives Monday. but up to now i highly recommend this guy. 100 bucks is a lot cheaper than replacing broken coil pack every week! plus he drove from narre warren (i think) to hastings and was here at 7:30 in the morning. How will it damage the coil? U will only loose compression. Good to hear that it's all fixed Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/406673-ohhh-no/page/2/#findComment-6491383 Share on other sites
Plattsy
because the angle the plug was on it was cracking coils near the spring underneath the rubber. its blown two already! Miguelone
I had this issue last year. Ended up buying one of these. http://www.vektools.com.au/powerbuilt-hand-tools/powerbuilt-14mm-backtap-spark-plug-thread-repair-tool-p-6182.html Made fixing the thread easy as and with a decent amount of grease on the tap no worries about any metal getting in the cylinder at all. Cheaper than thread bloke and you'll always have it handy too.
