Bought a set of genuine LMGT4s from n15mo and now in need for some rubber.

Could someone recommend me some tyres and also give me a breif explanation on how the size thing works? eg xxx/xx/xx?

The specs of the wheels are:

19x 8.5 +25

19x 9.5 +30

Looking for some slimline tyres so I don't have to roll my guards. Also I'd like to have some super grippy tyres that won't turn my car into a jetski when it's pissing down.

Preffered Brands:

Kuhmo

Yokohama/Advan

Federals - apparently they don't make the right size for the specs of the wheels

I also don't want the tyres to be less in width than the rim itself (where it sticks out of the tyres like most "JDM" cars), don't want the rims to get rashed if rubbed lightly on kerbs.

was wondering what you were on about with the title, tyres make much more sense!

So you don't want stretch, good move, my nismo's are 19x9.5+30 all round & came fitted with 245/35/19. Just enough stretch that the previous owner managed to scuff the passenger side ones, have now swapped the rears to 275/30/19 which has a nice square sidewall & plenty of protection. Fronts will most likely be going to a 255/30/19 after chrissy.

So decoding tyre sizing, for example 245/35/19. The '245' refers to the width of the tread (245mm), the '35' means the sidewall is 35% of the size of the tread (so 35% of 245 = 85.75mm) & the '19' means its a 19 inch tyre.

As far as what you can fit you might need clarification from someone with an r34 but for the fronts I'd be considering a 235/35/19 or 245/35/19 and for the rears a 265/30/19 or 275/30/19. May need a roll for the 275, I did, but again check with someone else with a 34.

245/35R19 and 275/30R19 are stupid sizes to run on an R34.

Factory tyre size is 225/45R17 (Diameter ~634mm)

On the front run either a...

225/35R19 (OD ~640mm)

235/35R19 (OD ~647mm)

On the rear run either a...

255/30R19 (OD ~636mm)

265/30R19 (OD ~641mm)

I'd personally run 225/35R19 and 265/30R19, these are available in plenty of decent brands and tread patterns. 245/35R19 will not only look like arse on a 19x8.5 wheel but is 20mm taller than factory!

    • No, code 21 is very straightforward. It can only be the things described in that diagnostic flow. In fact it has no way of knowing that the spark plug resistance is out of spec.
    • Hi, SteveL Thank you very much for your reply, you seem to be the only person on the net who has come up with a definitive answer for which I am grateful. The "Leak" was more by way of wet bubbles when the pedal was depressed hard by a buddy while trying to gey a decent pedal when bleeding the system having fitted the rebuilt BM50 back in the car, which now makes perfect sense. A bit of a shame having just rebuilt my BM50, I did not touch the proportioning valve side of things, the BM50 was leaking from the primary piston seal and fluid was running down the the Brake booster hence the need to rebuild, I had never noticed any fluid leaking from that hole previously it only started when I refitted it to the car. The brake lines in the photo are "Kunifer" which is a Copper/Nickel alloy brake pipe, but are only the ones I use to bench bleed Master cylinders, they are perfectly legal to use on vehicles here in the UK, however the lines on the car are PVF coated steel. Thanks again for clearing this up for me, a purchase of a new BMC appears to be on the cards, I have been looking at various options in case my BM50 was not repairable and have looked at the HFM BM57 which I understand is manufactured in Australia.
    • Well the install is officially done. Filled with fluid and bled it today, but didn't get a chance to take it on a test drive. I'll throw some final pics of the lines and whatnot but you can definitely install a DMAX rack in an R33 with pretty minor mods. I think the only other thing I had to do that isn't documented here is grind a bit of the larger banjo fitting to get it to clear since the banjos are grouped much tighter on the DMAX rack. Also the dust boots from a R33 do not fit either fyi, so if you end up doing this install for whatever reason you'll need to grab those too. One caveat with buying the S15 dust boots however is that the clamps are too small to fit on the R33 inner tie rod since they're much thicker so keep the old clamps around. The boots also twist a bit when adjusting toe but it's not a big deal. No issues or leaks so far, steering feels good and it looks like there's a bit more lock now than I had before. Getting an alignment on Saturday so I'll see how it feels then but seems like it'll be good to go
