Hey Guys

I just wanted to get some opinions please:

I just got some headers and HFC's and from what I've read, installing both of them would mean my V35 would be running very lean? ( My mods so far are: drop in K&N filter, Z Tube, TDX2 exhaust)

So I was planning on waiting to save up some more pennies, get the headers and HFC's installed then get it tuned ASAP at east coast customs in Brissy with the UP Rev software, so I may not damage the engine.

Am I being a bit too over the top about having to get a tune straight away? My V35 is my DD so it gets driven very often.

I would say doing an ECU reset would be enough to sort out any leaning issues. Its not like your slapping a super/turbo charger on the car thats going to boosting a significant amount of extra air through the engine requiring a significant amount of extra fuel to be added to the mixture

hmmm interesting, thanks for your reply guys. Looks like I may just get them installed without a tune then just a reset :)

What else gets reset with a 'ECU reset' though?

I believe Glen's ECU is in Texas because

Thats complicated! First run was 166rwkw without a tune.

My ECU didn't seem to like Uprev; it had a Master rom version they hadn't seen before so its with Uprev to get it sorted.

Only thing that gets reset is the learned fuel settings. And the dtc codes.

I would be asking serious questions why ecu is in Texas. I have been down the new map path twice with uprev, both completed successfully without the ecu leaving the car. Was my car, pnm35 and a adm pathfinder.

My bet is that they tried to flash a file onto the car from a different ecu and bricked it. Now they are trying to recover it. Hope your not paying for it.

Yep PN-Mad you got it in one. They have been really good about it trying to source another ECU (difficult because its a manual), and got it sent off to Uprev ASAP.

They are sorting it out at no extra charge to me, so I'll let you guys know how it goes. I've been happy so far with the way they have dealt with it; by being upfront and honest about it and trying to do what they can.

Luckily I've got a motorbike as well!

Good to knowthey are sorting it out. Hope it works out for you quickly and effectively.

Frustrating when they just had to take 2.5 hrs to dump the rom, send it off to uprev, and in about 3-5 days you'd have it back cracked and coded.

    • This sounds like someone who would have owned an R33 in their past... It's okay, I'm 100% picking up what you're putting down Mark.
    • Just back on what was raised about jacking off the the tow/tie down point on the front of cars. I've used it plenty. I've also watched it on a car where you could see it move the front end of the car. It was like the front end/whole car being tweaked and twisted a bit. I will say, I struggle to find good jacking points on MOST cars. The ones that have good points, I then normally struggle to find a jack tall enough to make the car change height!   One of my go to points for either the jack, or the axel stands though, is either a suspension pickup point, OR a subframe to chassis major bolting point. I actually think its the subframe on my R33 that has a bit of a bend in it, from being jacked in the middle too. However, it could have been one of my many other cars I've had over the years! Or it could also be the from me jacking it up, and the fact the top of the front radiator support isn't there, so it can allow the front of the car to move and bend etc.
    • My apologies. I forgot we were talking about weird beard M series stuff. Had been talking elsewhere with someone about an R33 with similar subject and got confused.
    • Nope, I don't like the look of ND RF, or any ND really, I don't like their faces or arses, why, because of their "modern" lines, the NC, whilst "modernish" has a more rounded shape that I like Well, that's how my overly judgemental eyes see it anyway
    • Should be more than fine, especially the overall fuel pressure would never exceed 3.5bar (assuming that thing never gets more than 0.5bar of boost in stock form). According to the chart, it's 11amps.
