Am wondering if anyone has any advice what clutches to look at. i have a s1 98 autech stagea with currently 260hp at the wheels and wanting to go to about 350-400hp. its a daily drive and i also tow my boat with it. occassionally when i get bored i do helicopters in it aswell. currently it has an exedy single plate that i am not real satisfied with and its starting to slip. i am looking at the nismo twin plate and am wondering if anyone has used it in their stagea and any recommendations of other clutches.

I've got the Nismo twin in mine - massive overkill for my car because I'll probably never use it to its full potential, but the clutch is so nice to use and it's quiet (none of the usual multi-plate rattle). It's far from cheap, but I highly recommend it.

I had an Exedy in mine and it lasted me 10 months... Fail - especially since I'm mechanically sympathetic and very rarely thrash my car. I think while I had it in the car I did one drag day at WSID (8 runs in total) and a few (maybe 3?) Texikhana skidpan days.

I run a single plate 6 puck clutch made by extreme also running lightened fly wheel clutch is fine to drive easily handles the 450+hp I'm running even launches nice and hard

I (with the help of fellow forum member run-it-hard) bpught a Nismo GMAX II twin plate (model before the copper mix) for around $950, the thing is just about brand new. Good clutches can be expensive (RRP on new coppermixes is huge, even from Japan), but if you have the time and patience, check out yahoo Japan for a bargain :-)

    • Yep, the closest base tune available was for the GTT, I went with that and made all the logical changes I could find to convert it to Naturally Aspirated. It will rev fine in Neutral to redline but it will be cutting nearly 50% fuel the whole way.  If I let it tune the fuel map to start with that much less fuel it wont run right and has a hard time applying corrections.  These 50% cuts are with a fuel map already about half of what the GTT tune had.  I was having a whole lot of bogging when applying any throttle but seem to have fixed that for no load situations with very aggressive transient throttle settings. I made the corrections to my injectors with data I found for them online, FBCJC100 flowing 306cc.  I'll have to look to see if I can find the Cam section. I have the Bosch 4.9 from Haltech. My manifold pressure when watching it live is always in -5.9 psi/inHg
    • Hi My Tokico BM50 Brake master cylinder has a leak from the hole between the two outlets (M10x1) for brake pipes, I have attached a photo. Can anyone tell me what that hole is and what has failed to allow brake fluid to escape from it, I have looked on line and asked questions on UK forums but can not find the answer, if anyone can enlighten me I would be most grateful.
    • It will be a software setting. I don't believe many on here ever used AEM. And they're now a discontinued product, that's really hard to find any easy answers on. If it were Link or Haltech, someone would be able to just send you a ECU file though.

    • Have you checked cam to crank timing and confirmed balancer marks are correct?
