With regard to replacing a failed unit with an OEM/JDM unit; there are a few different facias with different colours etc. am I able to use my facia with the stereo unit from a different car (assuming it is the Bose 6-stack like I have in my 2001 350GT sedan).

Yeah mate the actual stereo connects to the fascia front plate "controller".
