I've yet to attand a shenanigans night, but I'm guessing that we don't stand 2 metres from vehicle when its doing continuous 360's... Or do you guys? :)

No but that does raise a good point...

The story was basically laying blame solely at the feet of the drivers for creating a dangerous situation.... I wouldnt have minded some more blame shifted to the crowd who stood so close. I mean in the few times I've been to computer rd / magnesium drive to watch the show, we've always stood on the footpath behind parked cars.... I'd rather the car got a ding then I got squished.

I mean even when the guy was so close to hitting people in the scrotar they had to jump out of the way, as soon as his arse end flicked away from them they all moved in closer again. wtf?

Anyway.

Hrmm... you make a valid point krawler, however I have seen some drivers (much to my dismay line drivers) being a real dick thinking "Oh there is a group of people on the side of the road I'll just do a hand breaky into them, I'll look real cool.. my car wil lstop in time, no worries.." :)

Send in the Army and barricade them in and charge them under new anti-terrorist laws.

Seriously though, wouldn't it be nice of them to establish skidpan parks with low barricades in industrial areas so users could work on their driving skills at their own risk. They spend millions on football fields where many injuries occur, some life threatening (I'm a level 1 Rugby Union referee so see it first hand) and the upkeep would be minimal. Maybe regular attendance by police to provide a presence and opportunity to be engaged by the community, as well as provide comment and feedback to drivers.

In a nation that worships Bathurst, it is un-Australian to expect people to not enjoy their cars and the odd Doughy. Just make it socially acceptable to do it in the right place.

I will pay that Geoff thats a dam good idea!!!!

Give people a time & a place & it will work as the old saying gose

"Build It & They Will Come",

but the only prob there too is people r going to see that it is a way to make money & make ppl pay 4 the act of watching or doing the skids so it starts all over again, most people don't want to pay just to watch others chuck skids or pay too do the skids so yeah catch 22

Amen to that.

I was actually having a looksie at some of the highways heading west... They've put in new highways off to the side, in some cases bypassing a corner or similiar which means there are several lanes worth of bitumen not being used for anything more hardc0re than stopping grass from growing (temporarily)....

I wonder how feasible(sp?) it would be to put the same concrete barriers they use for Indy around and let the hoons do stupid things there? Obviously thanks to public liability etc they couldnt actively condone it, but maybe just stack some barriers and simply not watch it. Or something. I dunno. You can understand them not wanting to build a facility (lots of $$$'s for a minority group who wont win any seats), but why not let us destroy what isnt needed or even being used?

Feh, I guess the last two paragraphs are a very simplistic and naive approach to the matter, but hey :)

Its all owned by the GovCo, and rented / leased to the airport corporation (private company) on a certain number of years contract.

It makes it hard for any upgrades cause its like trying to convince a land son of rajab to let you do it :D Although I seem to recall the contract is like 25 years or something stupid.

i just wanna say yes everyone goes out and does stupid shit the only reason we don't get caught is because we don't go to the same spot i think it was 4 or 6 weeks in a row thats just a sure way to **** yourself..... you can do a skid in the middle of the city and not get caught but do it in the middle of the city on the same corner or road everynight you will get caught...

    • I couldn't wait But, the black constant tension hose clamps were too thick and there wasn't enough clearance at the T/B and I couldn't get it to seat properly, so I had use a silver one there I also added some 3" silicone over the alloy bit that goes through to hole on the radiator support as it looked like it was sitting on the edge of the hole in the radiator support, I never noticed a rattle or anything, but there was a witness mark It is basicly done, and I can live with the silver hose clamp at the T/B, I will get a black clamp for the head vent though where it is attached to the bulkhead fitting  It never stops...LOL, only issue now with the shock tower brace is it slightly touches the under bonnet liner now, if I leave it it will either wear some paint off the brace where it touches, or damage the liner, so I removed the liner to see what I have to work with, with the liner removed I have about 20mm of clearance, but sadly the middle part of the underside of the bonnet is only dusted with paint and looks crap, so I cannot have that, but.... as I have a roll of Carbuilders premium under bonnet insulation in the garage laying around that is only 5.5mm thick (we were going to use it on the boys Patrol, but he crashed the front of it a few months and it was written off, hence why he now drives my old Honda Accord Euro), I'll use the OEM liner as a template and get the Carbuilders stuff fitted up to cover that dusted paint up
    • You have a knack for photography my friend. It makes the 86 look like a complete bucket. The 34 went with you to Europe and back. It's special. (we all feel the same about our 'shitboxes' that every bystander seems to absolutely love)
    • It's been quite the ordeal but hey, at least you figured it out.
    • The final part arrived today to un-clampify and simplify the intake Who would have though a 1/2" hose stainless bulkhead fitting designed for below waterline bilge pumps would be what I needed Test fit on a 3" offcut I had laying around to see if it would work, and it worked a treat All going well the intake will be on its "final version" tomorrow
