Hey guys, I'm wondering if someone can hook me up with a cheap ebc for a 95 r33 gtst. I don't want to do the boost earth mod, just after a controller to run 9psi on stock turbo. Thanks Chris.

Nah, you pull out the boost solenoid, replace the old actuator with the RB20 actuator, block the hose going to the BOV return pipe and drive away with 10psi.

Yes. Leave the RB25 Actuator and boost Solenoid in and Earth the solenoid for 7psi or do my Trick and run 2 solenoids in parallel and get 9-10psi.

It's in the Boost Mod Thread... But why don't you want to do the Boost Mod? It's good, safe and it works all for Free.

Great u know yr stuff, if I choose to earth out the solenoid is this reversible and if I choose to eventually get a ebc will I encounter problems because I have cut the wire?

Wires can be reconnected. That particular wire will not affect anything else in any way, shape or form. ;)

Just do it.

I have done the solenoid Earth, 2 solenoids Earthed and the Actuator. Each was better than the previous.

Also RB20 actuators on mates cars. It's easy as. But the Earthing is Free. Have a crack at it.

You will not regret it.

other than, it will give you a hunger for more of that "untapped power potential"...

Please let us know how it turns out.

Don't forget, you don't have to "Cut" the wire, just strip back some of the plastic insulation and tap a wire into it there, then Earth it.

Do it to the Solenoid not the loom.

Simples. :D

Hi mate, completed the mod, went for a drive and wow, 1st has wheel spin now and 2nd feels more punch down low. Great little mod. I think I need some new coil packs as I have more hesitation in the higher revs now but works a treat. Or I need to regap the plugs as they are 1.1, boost is fun :]

Excellent, Gap them to 0.8mm and see how it goes. (Yes Boost IS Fun. :woot:)

Hey rob, i'm still curious as to what difference there is with earthing the solenoid compared to bypassing it completely.?

Earthing it is 7psi all the time, Bypassing it you will get Actuator pressure only.

(5psi stock) or as you (and I) have done, 10psi.

If for some silly reason you had the R32 actuator and the solenoid earthed and connected, you would get 12psi and it would be crap because of the ECU freaking out due to Too Much Boost / Air.

If either of you bought an SAFC and had that tuned, you would be amazed how much more power you get. :whistling:

(even though in the scheme of things it's not very much compared to the big boys 20psi+ etc.)

    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
    • So, now all you need to do is connect the 2 or 3x 12v feeds into the unit to permanent 12v, ACC 12V and IGN 12V that you can find in the spot behind the stereo, and the earth, and then it will switch on with the car.
