If I could get an RB26DETT head at only slightly more than RB25DE or RB25DET head - would it be worthwhile bolting onto an RB30 bottom end?? What problems are inherent in this setup?

I see that most tend to go for RB30DET (which is my next option) - I assume one of the chief reasons is the extra cost of the GTR head itself.

From previous readings I hear that there are a few problems with the basic design of the RB30 which makes RB30DETT not as optimal as it should otherwise be:

* oil squirters lacking in RB30 but its been said these are not required - even for big HP?

* harmonic balance issues in the rb30 mean that high revs (< 8k) will destroy the crank and probably the engine. Can this be overcome with balancing or can somebody explain the reason why not? To me this might not be a major concern, as the motor probably will be building enough torque by 8000rpm to keep a truck happy.

* The solid lifter design of the RB26DETT head is probably better suited for the higher revs? Which kind of is ruled out by the above.

What else needs to be taken into consideration?

Of course the bottom end would be rebuilt for quite a lot of power. Already have a block ready for things.

Not sure what car it will go in.. probably cheap R32.
