New Engine Number

Just a quick question everyone. Does the engine need to be removed for new engine number to be engraved on block? Or would access be adequate with just the removal components on the intake side and turbos only?

Has anyone done this before?

I think it can be done while engine is in the car but you would have to ask you mechanic doing the work to see if he can do it..

Why on earth would you need to add an engine number in the car? did you buy a new block and are concerned about rego?
