Tryed searching through past topics nothing really the same problem as mine

Anyway everytime i turn my car on from a cold start it turns over about 3 to 4 times makes a weird noise like its got no power then once it fires it up it idles at around 500rpm and i have to press the acceleartor

The weird thing is it makes a weird churp noise 2 or 3 times before it starts..

Is this my alternator which is gone? or battery...?

I also have a remote start and it doesnt seem to work it just clicks and trys to ignite and just doesnt start lol

So what do u think?

Thanks in advance :D

I am Currently Experiencing the same problems, So far no one has been able to figure out why our cars do this (Other people have been having the same problem on this forum)

Apparently this is a classic Sign of Dead Spark Plug(s).

Try Changing them.

This however was un sucessful for me.

02 Sensor - Could be your next check. However this maybe something out of Left field.

Fuel Pump - A dead or Dying Fuel Pump apparently has these symptoms.

Cold Start Sensor - Apparently this should ve investigated.

Air Flow Meter - Personally cant remember is this is the correct part mentioned, But cleaning out your Airfilter and Meter can have some improvements.

Please let me know how you go, Maybe try the above advice one day at a time, that way It will narrow down exactly what the problem is/was.

Im sure other people will be interested in hearing how you go.

Good Luck!

Thanks,

Essential.

I used to have this problem when i first got my car. It is a combination of a few factors. Firsty, when most cars come from japan, the battery dies, because it is not used for months.

The chirp and weak start is the battery. Get a booster pack and connect it up, and you'll notice the difference a stronger battery will make. No more chirp, and should start quicker.

Secondly, the low idle. For me, it was my car not adjusted properly to our shit aussie fuel. I ran a few tanks of our shit 98 octane fuel, then reset ecu. Problem went away. Rough idle can also be caused by other factors such as broken afm, idle may also be set too low.

When cranking a good battery should not drop below 10volts, when started you should have 14-14.5Volts back at the battery.

Starting a cold car is alot harder then starting a warm car, so if your starter is worn - she will struggle. Also once the car has been running for a while the battery will store a surface charge, That will give the starter more amps to deliver when cranking - so if starts easier. The surface charge disappears after 1-2hrs

I had a similar problem. Check the voltage when starting the car and it cranks, i found that mine dropped from 14V (indicating that it was charging ok, thus no alternator problems) to around 7V when the engine cranked. It was 90% due to the battery and i went and got myself a new one.

Starts great everytime now, even in the cold, after days of not driving it.

Mate, I dont wanna stomp on your pride, but how can an altenator be producing 14 volts before the engine is started?

    • Agreed, I've never seen a 260RS specific manual. As GTSBoy said it will mostly be stagea other than the engine loom https://www.hgeconsulting.com.au/stageaservicemanual.pdf
    • You'lll likely have to make do with R33 GTR for engine/tranny stuff, and Stagea for the body. I don't know that there's even been an actual diagram seen in the wild.
    • Haha, i kow right? Could have bought so many cars for the same amount of money (or less) but driving Unicorn gives you at least +1mln to style 😅. Like wise man said "life's to short to drink cheap wine and drive boring cars" 😉
    • Newbie here, proud owner of an Autech 260RS. I'm on the hunt for wiring diagrams specific to the 260RS, particularly S1. I've ran my eyes through R33, R34 Diagrams, there are some similarities, however continue to find incorrect wire colours and pins on connectors in the 33,34 diagrams.   I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction? I'd be happy to pay for the originals in Japanese. I can translate them, at least they would be accurate.   Any help please would be greatly appreciated, never heard an RB26DETT before let alone driven one, and I've got a spaghetti monster of goodness to sort out.   Cheers Benny
