Hi all,

Just wanted to ask a silly newbie question. I was watching some car videos at a friends house tonight. What I see are a bunch of cars being laiden down with sandbags or people sitting in the boot.

What I want to ask is, if a car needs this kind of weight to put power to the ground, what is the point? Doesnt it make the car totally uncontrollable or am i missing something, perhaps downforce from a rear spoiler?

Seems to be a waste of effort if the car starts hopping about.

I'm just being synical i suppose, but enlighten me. Is this useful horsepower?

yes and no. The point of the dyno is to measure the power, and to do this, u need to ensure there is no slipping on the dyno.

On the street, if u get wheelspin, u still can accelerate. U just have to have good throttle control, or be able to afford sticky tyres
