Hi everyone, this is my first post, so here goes :D

I am looking to buy an r32 gts-t, and ive got about $16K to spend.

I'm having trouble finding nice examples locally, and I'm starting to think about importing one instead. Im looking at an 89 model, to make the compliancy a lot cheaper and easier ( I hope  )

Ive started talking to the guys at http://www.prestigemotorsport.com.au/, and by the looks of it, I should be able to get one on the road for about $15K

One thing that concerns me tho is getting the car passed through regency, cos the last thing I need is to go to all the trouble getting it to Adelaide and get it complicanced, then have it defected :(

Does anyone have any importing experices, or information they would like to share?

Cheers

I checked out all these options over the last 12 months. I was very impressed by Prestige. 4 Brother were also really helpful. In the end I was lucky enough to find a '92 GTS-t at a local caryard which I managed to get for about $14,000. 95,000 kms and completely standard apart from exhaust. It was exactly what I was after and I couldn't be happier. No farken around either, I picked it up the day I paid for it. My advice is look everywhere and don't get overexcited. If you buy the first bargain you see, you may get screwed.

But you have picked a good place to get some tips, because a few people here really know their stuff. (I'm not one of them!)

Good luck, hope to see you out cruising soon! :P

Welcome to the forums:)

for 16K, you should be able to pick up a really neat example. If you are after stock, around 12+ for a clean auto example - you do need to hunt around though.

It would be worth getting one with a bit of fruit on it though - cos most times, when people spend money on cars, they loose alot when they sell it, alot of money. I have spent around 40K on my car, plus cost of purchase, and it will be close to impossible to sell it for even 35K in one piece (just no market for highly modded cars) - gotta remove some fruit, but even then, I still wont get anywhere near my money back.

Good luck, and be patient:)

for approx. 15k you could pick one up locally or are you determined to import. Like ant32 my bro picked up his r32 93 for $12,500 with less than 100, 000kms in completely standard trim except for zorst and gtr bonnet. Although it was private. Btw was your 32 from a caryard on main north rd near a lawn mover shop ant32.

sweet, as your talking about cars that are purple. Has anyone notice a purple, i think it is, company car from some internet company cruising around. Reason i ask is because these co cars consist of an evo 7, sti and i belive a gtr32. Much like how adams internet has a monaro.

From what I've been told, that's the place that used to own my car. I have to say, it did look pretty cool, but I'm not enough of a tool to get away with it. (That's my opinion anyway) I did get plenty of looks and comments from 15 year old girls! Now it's mostly guys that check out the car. Now that I think about it, WHAT WAS I THINKING!!

    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
    • Nice car! I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
    • Should replace OR drop the tank, give it's good clean. Might be worth replacing that entire fuel level/pump/cradle thing with this: https://frenchysperformancegarage.com/products/fpg-s13-180sx-r32gtst-single-pump-hanger-kit-billet-hat-6-v3-fpg-089?gQT=2
