Cars, parts and beer. (questions for the SAU gaijin) :)

Not enough Rx7's around... but at 6'3", 110kg, I dunno if I can fit in one.

Try the FD out, see how you fit. I was talking to a guy today who is 6'7" who used to own an S13, he said it was a bit small but not too uncomfortble (sp?)...

I doubt an FD's interior would be smaller than an S13's, but I may be wrong....

why not go with the 33 gt-r? hell it only cost about 1,300,000 yen (thats the cheapest i heard and if you wanna see the pic of this price 33 take a look at this http://www.hipertekspeed.com/ryanr33.htm) u said you'll have 2million yen so i think you'll be able to find a gtr that will fit you. :D

Evo_lee: On the diving... sweeeeeet. :D

Hypnotik: Yeah, I think it's best I try one. Like I said before, I never thought I"d fit in an MR2, but I was proven wrong. :D

yukz2daizzo: Well, I've got an R33 now, so I know I'll fit, but there's so many 33's out there, I'd like something different... but thanks for the price information.. I'm definitely not dismissing a nice GTR out of hand...

For someone who will import a vehicle under the personal import scheme, dont waste it. You are able to bring in ANY car. Dont bring a GTR in. Personally, I would bring in the V35 or Airsto

Or any of the Sedan turbo's, Definately fit in them.

Or if you must have a 2 door coupe:

I was going to say has anyone noticed why none of us J-guys have bought a GT-R, apart from them being expensive, insurance etc etc...or is it because they aren't what it's hyped up to be and any turbo car could whip it's sorry ass...first year memories of astonishment to see a Diahatsu Opti Kei-car with 3 pasengers onboard whip an E3 and 180SX along the wangan...how is that possible?!?!

Now your right about don't bother about the GT-R, unless your a diehard fan...but why an Aristo? I like them too but with the 147 being so close to 15yo...I'll wait for that. Forget the Z33, you can get them in Aust.

In the current Nissan stable the only new car I'd go for is M35 Stagea, they aren't expensive and look super!!! and the VQ25DET makes so much more torque then the Neo RB25DET :D. Or the V35 Coupe...but they are rather expensive for low km and good condition ones.

The wisest thing to do is to buy if possible your favourite car for a reasonable condition and price...and mod the crap out of it, they can't touch you for mods on a personal import when you bring it back. Most of you I believe will not want to be throwing away thousands of dollars on 1st year insurnace (keep in mind you have no driver history in Japan) or fixing up a rough example.

hey !! i just sold my set of fabulous rims :D

i had the exact ones as the middle picture, car on the left, was on the soarer. any1 know how much they worth ? wondering if i gave someone a bargain ?

Troy/Justin - sorry guys that weekend is already fully booked for me - got to visit in-laws/relatives down in Totsuka (near Kamakura) then it's onto Hakejima Sea Paradise for the kids :)

straight after that I'll be heading back to sunny Ol' England...so for me it looks like the meet will probably have to wait until September ;)

On the bright side, it'll be cooler by then! :D

No worries Dave, Septembers all good for me...

If you racing comp yes you need a license, if you just doing track days you just rock up. It's reasonable in the cost 15,000 for two 30 minute sessions.

Given the temp now, I don't think the factory oil cooler is going to hold up. Justin will have to take it easy with the Skyline I think unless he wants to temporarily fit my factory oil cooler :D. Will be my first time on Ti, previous to this only a couple visitors lap around Central circuit, been on Montegi and Suzuka but not in the Evo.

    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
    • Yeah mate, never miss it.
    • Any going to watch World Time Attack at SMSP this year?
    • Appreciate the correction on the "ground", that will make a huge difference to looking at this. That makes complete sense about AF70/AF71 which is what I had come down to being the issue, one of these. I'll have another look in the ignition wiring when I get a chance next week. I'll also make up a jumper wire for running that AF73 test.  ECU is fine, relay itself is fine, pump harness is fine and the pump itself is fine. I am going to upgrade the Walbro 255 anyway with a DW300 I have since I need to replace the fuel sender and I'm going to upgrade the FPR with my chasebays kit ready for new plenum/injectors/dbw, but I'll get this working first. That's why this is so frustrating.
