Hi all,

i know this is a skylines forum, but i dont really know of any s15 forums. Anyways My questions are...

Whats the difference between all teh s15 models? Spec R Spec S etc.

Is there much difference between teh Aus delivered model and the JDM?

Are these (JDM models) hard to find?

Also does anyone know any good s15 sites?

Cheers

All I know is the JDM spec s is an SR20DE (2.0 litre non turbo) and cannot be imported, and the JDM spec r could only be imported for early 1999 models.

The aus spec s and spec r have the same power on paper, unsure what exactly the differences are.

As for s15 sites, try searching for Nissan Silvia (hint, theres even a forum named that) which had loads of information on them.

The JDM S15's put out more power on paper due to a different ECU, more boost and a larger exhaust. You will generally pay more for one of these then you will for a 2001/2002 Aust delivered example, which is stupid if you ask me.

The Spec R has the sunroof, leather, wing etc. All this adds to more weight which puts it behind the Spec S.

Spec R "GT" comes with the leather seats sunroof, high spoiler, chromed wheels (not that chrome its just bright silver) chromed interior bits...metal pedals

normal Spec R compared to Spec S is

Spec R has sunroof, 6 CD stacker, rear spoiler, sideskirts thats about it (Spec S has just a cd player and no sunroof/spoiler/sideskirts)

i think from memory the spec s is about 40kgs lighter or something like that

basically the GT spec just adds

high spoiler

chromed wheels

chromed interior

metal pedals

leather seats at front

best thing to do is google 's15 specs', 'silvia info' and stuff like that...i didn, had like 20 files of shyte telling me everything they had improved, like the helical and viscous suspension and stuff... the jdm are more powerful coz they have less restriction, ie exhaust and stuff (i think)aus have 147kw (same as a vt commo:P) and i think the jdm have around 175-180kw

gt is luxury model with loads of extras (as has been said) but most people just get the spec r (lil heavier than spec s) and remove the spoiler n stuff to make it look more slick so to speak :D

so basically, google it mate, google knows all!

JDM S15 silvia Spec R - 184kw and Spec S is about 118kw I think. Oh and theres a S15 Autech version, its' a spiced up Spec S with 147kw of power. Both Spec S & R came in different level of equipments...theres type B (this is basic with crappy steel wheels) , S package, G package, V package,

L package (Chrome fittings interior, leather interior, chrome headlights, fog lamps + other interior enhancements) and the Aero (High rear spoiler, side skirt + fog lamps). All has the A pillar guage (turbo guage on specR and oil pressure guage on Spec S), climate control a/c, rear windscreen wiper, power folding side mirrors, lightning emblem on bonnet and steering wheel, injector 480cc. Optional - TV, DVD Navigation + many more.

Aus deliverred, S15 200sx - 147kw, injector 440cc I think, no climate control a/c, no rear wiper, no power folding side mirriors, TV not an option, nissan emblem on bonnet, plain nissan steering wheel.

200SX GT - leather front seats, polished mag wheels, chrome fittings in interior, high wing rear spoiler. power is still 147kw.

NZ delivered S15 200sx - 184kw, same standard features as the JDM S15. Nissan emblem on bonnet.

The JDM S15's, they are out there. Here in WA - you will see one or two for sale occasionally. Check car point, there maybe one or 2 that will pop up sometimes. There were more for sale, before the SEVS rules changed, that **** everyone around.

Only the 1999 to aug 2000 models can be imported, as they started selling the local S15 in late 2000. However, everyone is still waiting for compliance plate to be made available. That means noone can import them yet.

    • Why are you so adamant on going M12? Why not follow Brad (GTSBoy) suggestion. You're talking moving from a 1/8" size, to a 1/2" effectively. 4 times bigger. Why skip the commonly available sizes in between? The bigger you go, the more likely you are to strip the threads out at a later date, as guaranteed, someone will put a huge spanner on the M12 and really tighten it up, and you're only in thin wall, so not a lot of threads to engage!
    • Hi. Yeah thanks. Car is already at tuners and it staying there to resolve "many" issues they do not like. So it is in a good hands. Getting a good tune on that Nistune ECU too so the car would be good. Just needs a little tune up and love.
    • Probably gonna remove manifold and turbo. I’m not sure if I can get M12 x 1.5 air tight. Could use high temp Loctite 246 or something similar, but I don’t know. Maybe it’s just best to remove everything again and weld an 1/8NPT on there instead.
    • Yeah, saw the ratios, not impressed. Would like the punch I have in the first gears now. With those ratios it won't be the same.  Also want the h pattern gearing, or at least a quiet gear set that don't need to come apart for service each year. Looks like the only "reasonable" way Is a 8hp70 transmission, but where is the fun in that🤷‍♂️
