Hi All

My V35 2003 has been sitting in my garage for 2 years (thanks to covid 19 ) and now working from home

I'm planning to get a proper full servicing done and get back on the road

Any advice on the best place to go ?

Also I use to experience a sudden few second jerk on quick acceleration, any idea ?

Cheers

Fred

Hey Fred

I've been taking my Skyline and Silvia to "Vernon Mcleod Auto Repairs" for over last 10 years. Family run business for over 25 years that don't charge an arm and a leg but know their JDM's. Details are below and advise em you were referred by myself :)

2/38 Sinclair Rd, Dandenong VIC 3175

Cheers

HI Adrian

Went there today and it seems they have closed down

Rob at Sabaddin automotive in Mulgrave if you want a Nissan import expert that caters for anything you could ever need.

For more general servicing i use and trust Ian Park motors in Keysborough. Old school and honest bloke who knows his stuff. Not an import specialist but you don't really need to be for a run of the mill service.

Google them for address and contact details.

Try some injector cleaner and fresh 98 fuel for the jerky acceleration.

I will give them a call tomorrow. Im thinking a proper full service and few mods

    • Yeah, Duncan is helping sell me back to Android devices. I've hated the whole Android head units due to their speed issues. Even in my old Hyundai Kona (2022 model), it behind the scenes was Android, and slow and shitty to start up. Once running wasn't bad, but still a good 15 to 30 seconds.
    • My roof rails are off atm on the E39 until the rust is fixed. I did find another little bit of surface rust under the rails when I took them off. As @soviet_merlin said I'd just leave them alone unless you're planning on ensuring they're properly sealed. I was on the fence about leaving them off as the delete is still a thing in BMW E39's but I feel like the car is missing something (er, it is, der) with them off and I'm looking forward to putting them back on.
    • Man, I miss having a phone that fits into my hand!
    • The speed this thing starts up is making me want to replace my old one. Though my old one immediately kicks into reverse camera as soon as reverse is engaged, it's clearly not part of the android system. For everything else though, starting up, connecting to hotspot, opening maps, starting music in spotify is easily a ~2 minute affair.
    • Yeah well per the video it took 15s for the stock unit to start up....even if I give it a few seconds discount for starting that is at least 12 sec before you get a reverse camera if you are trying to leave a park.  The android unit is way faster, but 2016 for the stock unit is a long time ago in consumer electronics
