thanks mate, since youve done it before you seem to know what your talking about.

the thing is im not worried about any costs outside of japan. I can take care of that piece of cake (and i do not want to overstate).

fact of the matter is im hoping to find a 34gtr for the 50k mark in great nick. do you think this is possible and if so who do i speak to?

im glad to say i can take care of import, compliance etc.. myself.

the main concern is i need a car that is in top nick v-spec or whatever for around the 40-50.

regardless of LCT, import tax es, compliance etc - the base price for a worthwhile GTR is going to be at least $50k. If you want a pristine v-spec/II, or above, then expect to pay at least another $10-20k.

A $40k r34 gtr in the current market is, putting it bluntly, one hell of a risk. A $50k car is probably going to be a compromise, be it in quality or kms.

daioni: mmm i dont object, you could be right, when it comes down to it in anycase weather u pay 100k or 40k still u dont know what the hell ur buying anyways until it gets here. so around 60-70 bracket hey? thats duable, what about the one you showd me b4 is that cheaper just cos of the k's?? were is that car anyways and how did you come across it (mind you if u come across more let me know) email [email protected] cos i have to go out tonight my girl is hasslin me haha..

if you are prepared to pay around $65 k landed and complied here check your pm .

you are right on the $40 - 50 k but dont forget you have to pay 15 % import duty + 10 % gst plus shipping costs + compliance so the $40 k car in japan becomes a $60 k car by the time you get it here and comply it + rego + stamp duty ( you will pay stamp duty on any car local or not ).

$50,000 to buy a car which is 4,000,000 yen which will get a early V-spec if lucky, which is $76,000 plus rego.

If you donate $1,000 to the Red Cross intsead I can put you in the right direction free of charge. And you can bring in your own car.

and finally...how stupid do you think DOTARS are if you fudge a 40,000km BNR34 VSpec for 2Mil or less. Believe me they also have their contacts here in Japan.
He *could* get that King Buyer 34 GT-R for 1.8 mil... :P

you would still have to strip your heavily modified GTR of all aftermarket parts and then have those parts destroyed and signed to be eligible for compliance plate down here, so you're better off looking for a mint stocker probably a grade 4.

try the guys at http://www.japanautodirect.com its owned by an aussie, and they're pretty well known in the industry to wind back km's and other shifty business.

David Zozuk runs the show. He will purchase in auctions for you. if your interested in a particular car, he'll go take pictures and check the car for any obvious faults.

he's been exporting for many years but he just upgraded his webpage, which is why theres isnt a couple of thousand cars on there.

is it worthwhile taking the risk through that company king-buyer? i went on the site and unfortunately i cant understand much but im not 100% convinced.

Nah man, all the comments about King Buyer were tounge in cheek. I think Demon Dave posted up some quite interesting links regarding King Buyer aka Kaisousha (sp?)... dodgy.

    • @GTSBoy This method was able to get readings of -10 to -2, so it looks like its monitoring.  Now I need to figure out why the vacuum on the line provided isn't alternating with manifold pressure.  I went with 2 lines that an RB25 tuner recommended but I'll get a longer hose and try directly off the back of the manifold.  He may have been used to OEM intake setups while I have a DBW setup that removed the MAF and IACV.  
    • I work at a car detailing and tinting shop called Quark which gets all manner of German cars in usually (mainly due to a contract with Mercedes Benz Kita Osaka, BMW Nishinomiya and others) but every once in a while something special comes in, like a fully restored 1972 HS30 Nissan Fairlady 240ZG... The shop owner had immediately started applying film to the windows as soon as it was in the shop so the interior was completely covered in towels and plastic sheets. But I could get a few photos of the engine bay which was restored like new. Such an amazing car to see in pristine condition in Japan these days.  
    • Was going to say the car pulls up nicely everywhere, especially going into that last long right hander before the main straight. Looks like a lot of fun.
    • Hey Dave, welcome aboard! Good to see another soon-to-be Stagea owner here. The wagons are awesome — plenty of space, still got that Skyline DNA, and loads of potential if you’re into mods. Definitely post up pics when you get it, everyone here loves seeing new builds. What model/year are you looking at?
