Was wondering whether the R32 is much better than the R33 on petrol, being a 2 liter rather than an 2.5 liter. Also I think the R32 is slightly lighter. Only concerned about the turbos.

Do you think the parts are cheaper for R32s also? I see RB25DET engines are 3k for SSS automotive while a RB20DET is 1.2k

Is the price of RB25's going to drop you think as they get older or are they just more expensive because they're a more powerful motor?

Still tossing up b/wn the 2. Thinking R32 is more suited to my budget though..

I got 483km for almost fuel tank on my R33 GTS-t going to Phillip Island HSV Sprint Day last Sunday. 10psi, 3.5" exhaust...

In the city, its between 250-350km to the 1/4 mark, 90% driven in morning/afternoon traffic crawl.. 7-8psi, silencer/restrictor on exhaust tip.

On paper the R33 has better fuel economy which is some where around 10l/100km's.

The R32 is slightly more with 10.5L/100km's.

Mine averages around 11L per 100km's, 99% of the driving is all short 10-20km trips in 60km/h built up areas. Hit the open road and it easily hits 600km's a tank. Providing I pull the lead out of my foot when overtaking. :D

I run 1.1bar of boost with a Bosh910 external pump, it doesn't appear to make much if any difference from when it was stock.

The trick with keeping decent fuel economy is I change the fuel filter every 6 months and run a bottle of Nulon total fuel system cleaner every 3 or so months.

The fuel cleaner is what seems to do it.

I went for around 1 year without running a bottle and fuel consumption dropped from around 470-500km's a tank down to high 300's flat 400's.

The R32 is good for basic mods but if you want to make some serious power expect the extra cost involved in converting to a RB25DET and the RB25DET gearbox.

The ol' RB20DET doesn't really have the spooling power for 400+hp on the street. Unless you enjoy stuff all from 5000rpm+, thats too laggy for me.
