Japanese Bedding questions...yes a weird one :P

Recommended Posts

Howdy...

First off im not being a stereotypical English...just thought id ask, cos i dont think its been mentioned before :(

I have a bad back from work somedays, and i find lying on the floor helps a lot.

My bed has seen better days, and combined with the fact ive outgrown it long ago, i need a new one.

I thought id ask the guys living in Japan...Do you guys sleep in the traditional "roll it out on the floor style matress" bed??

Sorry if im way off here, but im really serious about finiding some information on the traditional Japanese bedding style. My back really does get bad, and i think if i started sleeping on the floor it would help me a lot...

Which ones of you guys said stuff it, i like my beds and i aint givin it up? :)

Any info on what makes up the traditional bedding etc would be greatly appreciated :)

Thanks again in advance :P

And heres me thinking you were gonna ask about Japanese ladies "sleeping habits"... hehehe.

I'm western style double queen size all the way... I used to sleep on a futon for the first 2 years I was here though, I didn't like it at all... no good for "certain" "positions" right guv, seen?

Same as Rezz - futon on Tatami mat floors for the first two years, then the luxury of a proper bed since then. Got to admit I don't find anything wrong with futons, it's just that I'm so lazy I can't be bothered pulling out the cupboard and nite, then packing them away the next morning...

Been sleeping on a futon since I got here, my back is really screwed up and it's pretty much the only thing I can sleep on these days. It's the same reason I put a nice stiff Recaro in the car, the factory R33 seats were killing my back on long trips.

So where can I get one of these in Japan?
you probably cant get one dude. as it is only available in australia BUT trust me man I run a bedding shop in adelaide australia and man you NEED a good Bed, dont buy something too hard make sure you get a COMFORTABLE BED and if soft is comfortable go for it. ONLY you can tell what is comfortable.

yes...i do think about it....and i have taken appropriate action.

i need a new bed anyway, cos ive outgrown my last one (had it for at least 10 years now) and i need a stiff mattress...

Had a posturepedic...but it feels good when im on the floor...hence this topic....

Now if i could only find a Traditional Japanese Futon maker in Adelaide.....

I just sleep on the desk ing the shop most night... but other then that i had the futon and then a double and a water bed and not a standard.. I guess that it really does not matter what media that you sleep on. i still wake up sore from a drifting the night before! getting old sucks so unless you sleep in your pool then i think you aught to see a doc on that back thing!

bob

Ok...everyone. Dont worry bout my back. I have taken appropriate action at work, and seen the doctor.

His advice WAS to lay on the floor because it does help :D

And it does work for me.....

Thats why im after some info on what consists of the tradtional Japanese bedding...i dont wanna end up using my swag in my bedroom to sleep on :(

So, anyone got any pics, or links to show me what i should be lookin for??

Any help would be grealty appreciated ;)

    • Haha, i kow right? Could have bought so many cars for the same amount of money (or less) but driving Unicorn gives you at least +1mln to style 😅. Like wise man said "life's to short to drink cheap wine and drive boring cars" 😉
    • Newbie here, proud owner of an Autech 260RS. I'm on the hunt for wiring diagrams specific to the 260RS, particularly S1. I've ran my eyes through R33, R34 Diagrams, there are some similarities, however continue to find incorrect wire colours and pins on connectors in the 33,34 diagrams.   I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction? I'd be happy to pay for the originals in Japanese. I can translate them, at least they would be accurate.   Any help please would be greatly appreciated, never heard an RB26DETT before let alone driven one, and I've got a spaghetti monster of goodness to sort out.   Cheers Benny
    • Hey all  im wondering if you can help me please I have put a rb20 box in my r34 gtt as my auto packed up and a friend had a spare box I know it’s not ideal but it will get me up and running for now. we have done the conversation and everything is working great but my Speedo we got a s13 speed sensor but my Speedo reads double now and I bought a speed converter but still not having any luck.  so I thought I’ll reach out and pick your brains  any help would be appreciated please as I wanna drive my car again
    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
