Hey guys,

Just looking to get some feedback from any of you who may have got an exhaust fabricated locally, where you got it done, roughly how much and how satisfied you were with the job. I'm looking at getting a full 3" exhaust in the next month or so, and 2nd hand cat-back Jap systems aren't readily available for my poor JZX100... And the brand new ones are looking at costing around $1100! So custom is looking very attrictive...

Thanks.

Damn....TourerV... Nice :P

Powatone did a good job on my last car, and they were pretty good blokes too. However have heard mixed reactions about them lately. City Exhaust have done some really nice work with intercooler piping on some car's i've seen, so maybe them as well. Good luck with it, and hopefully we'll hear the car coming from now on so there's time to turn and gawk at one of the rarer imports :P

I got mine done at City Exhaust. cost me $600 for a 3" dump and 3" cat. i already had a cat-back and a muffler, so that's why it was a bit cheaper.

very happy with the results, brought the dB down below 90 (just) but still sounds really good.

CITY EXHAUST ARE THE GO. WE HAD SOME WORK DONE ON OUR RACE CAR THERE WHEN WE WERE IN TOWN.THEY KNOW THERE SH1T.

Hmmm, I must have had my intercooler piping done when they were under different management/owners (City Exhaust) cause the work that was done when I had my car there was bloody shocking !!, oh, plus the fact they took my car for a 13km 'test'....

I've been to PowaTone twice now and are very happy with their work.

The Stagea recently got a full 3 inch turbo back system done at powatone and it cost me $900 (minus cat). The work is top notch. They may not be the cheapest around, but the work is good and they won't 'test drive' your car.

Had my exhaust done by Phil at Skyline Performance, beautiful job, couildnt be happier with the quality

My mate had Phil build up a 3sgte motor (spent about $8k on the block & head alone !!) for him, and the quality of work he did was nothing short of amazing.

Ever seen the INSIDE of a block and a knife edged crank end polished so well you could see your reflection ?

Tuggeranong Mufflers are the buisness! they have done all my work so far on both cars and will continue on future cars.

check this out was all done at tuggers... all custom, love the GTR but still have a spot for my good old MX6... though i love anything with a 450+ HP turbo on it :P

its not finished up with the joins being filed back... i dont care for looks i like performance.

heres a manifold phil at skylines performance made from scratch for my GTR!!!!

Powatone is probably the best but you have to make sure you get raff to do it as he is the pro out there, so thats where the conflicting stories come from!!

I have seen some real nightmare jobs come from city exhuast but i have also seen some top quality sh.t aswell again i think you have to get the right bloke to do it not the apprentice using the electric arc!!!!haha

Out of those three you probs will get a good job so its up to you!!!

    • Absolute f*cking nightmare. I had to take breaks constantly, and I was always pissed off when I got home. The line split in Italy on day 2 (we drove from the Netherlands), lol. Driving any narrow European town was... well, sh*t.   Appreciate it man. Here, I'll just drop a favourite from the load I took on Saturday.   I'll update here when things happen with the car, the thing is, with stock power and almost everything chassis-wise taken care of, there really are no problems. 268,000kms now and counting.
    • Ah! I actually managed to snag a lightly used set.... that aren't so suitable for me right now. They don't work on a GTT without some cutting or creative heat moulding. I thought about reselling them myself cause I didn't want to murder them, but it looks like I'm probably going to attempt to murder them/melt them because I may as well. @GTSBoy @PranK can somebody close this thread?
    • Hey mate,  I have a set, one is slightly damaged but wont be noticable once installed.  Shoot me a message if your still after them
    • I couldn't wait But, the black constant tension hose clamps were too thick and there wasn't enough clearance at the T/B and I couldn't get it to seat properly, so I had use a silver one there I also added some 3" silicone over the alloy bit that goes through to hole on the radiator support as it looked like it was sitting on the edge of the hole in the radiator support, I never noticed a rattle or anything, but there was a witness mark It is basicly done, and I can live with the silver hose clamp at the T/B, I will get a black clamp for the head vent though where it is attached to the bulkhead fitting  It never stops...LOL, only issue now with the shock tower brace is it slightly touches the under bonnet liner now, if I leave it it will either wear some paint off the brace where it touches, or damage the liner, so I removed the liner to see what I have to work with, with the liner removed I have about 20mm of clearance, but sadly the middle part of the underside of the bonnet is only dusted with paint and looks crap, so I cannot have that, but.... as I have a roll of Carbuilders premium under bonnet insulation in the garage laying around that is only 5.5mm thick (we were going to use it on the boys Patrol, but he crashed the front of it a few months and it was written off, hence why he now drives my old Honda Accord Euro), I'll use the OEM liner as a template and get the Carbuilders stuff fitted up to cover that dusted paint up
