Im buying a R32 GTR, Engine rebuilt w/oversize pistons, Garrett T28 turbos. HKS adjustable coilovers. Sparco 17X10 rims w/245 tyres. N1 Exhaust. HKS filters. Cross drilled rotors, CDplayer, GReddy Boost Gauge. NISMO 260km Dash. TurboTimer. Includes compliance & RWC.

How will the engine work with those pistons and is it a good upgrade?, How powerfull will my car be in rwkw & 1/4,mile ?

If your really that keen to know, it might change the sound of the engine when its up on high rev's to compared to a stock GTR.

We have an RB25 with forged o/size pistons and aftermarket rods that sounds like the R34 GTR from 2 fast 2 furious. doesnt have that smooth purr of the stock RB25 anymore, this is with standard cams aswel.

;)

Jun

it sounds like the pistons were not machined corectly causing piston slap. my 33gtr has JUN oversized pistons and it sounds completely stock!

What could be giving the different sound ?

Different manifolds

pistons (Arias)

Rods ?

Using stock crank!

Yeh sounds identical to the GTR from 2 Fast 2 Furious. - Listen to that and the to a stock GTST.

Pistons slap isn't good! You'll have to get your block re-sleved, to fit the pistons properly or get a new bottom end. But thats new ring lands, head gasket, seals etc. Pain in the assss!!

Just hope its not that and only somthing minor ;)

:)

Im ready to buy the car, im happy because its all rebuilt. How will my car go on 1/4 mile with all those parts that i listed on my 1st post. My friend says he will kill my car on 400m in his GTS-T on top speed with his mods(600hp turb0,...). and my cousins 180sx killed him on start, because his skyline is too laggy, his 180sx did best 13.9 on calder with cooler, full exhast system and 12psi. so they mixed my brain with their car talk. :bonk: . or they are jealous????

A R32 GTR with T28 turbo's can do 11's.. well as long as everything else is there to support them. Clutch and a FPR. Really need more fuel too. One of our previous GTR's runs constant high 11's with a near stock motor on T28's.

No way a GTS-T or 180sx would come close without a lot of mods..

what size pistons ? are they nissan ? you can get nissan +.5 mm oversize or +1mm but there are aftermarket pistons bigger still , it depends on what they used and how good the work was done .

if you have 87 mm pistons ( +1 mm oversize ) like i have in my car and they are the same compression as stock then you will find the compression will be a little higher than stock ( as long as they used a stock headgasket ) .

i have 87 mm arias pistons in mine that increases the engine capacity from 2568 cc to 2627 cc .

the extra 59 cc + slightly higher compression gives you a bit more power that is noticeable at low rpm ( no boost ) .

i dont know what turbos you have , what boost , computer , tune and a lot of other things must be considered .

i have the garrett n1 turbos in mine , power f/c , 1.2 bar boost ( ebc) and stock cooler , stock injectors ( on the limit ) , stock airbox , stock airflow meters ( on the limit ) .

the car has run 11.7 @ 121 mph 1.8 60 ft but the track was very slippery so i couldnt get a good 60 ft , have a look at my time slip on the registery .

i have an r33 so its a little heavier as well , that may give you an indication of what this car could run if the work is and tune are done well .

i have seen cars with more mods than mine like 2530's , 550 injectors , z32 airflow meters , camgears and he could only do 12.1 @111 mph with 1.7 60 ft .

as i said before it does come down to tune as well , as far as driver , track ... yea but the trap speed should indicate what the car is capable .

with trap speed of 121 mph , i should have a lower et than 11.7 but traction was the poblem as the slow 60 ft indicates .

yes wrxhoon, but we can't compare every car and it's mods as it comes down to so much. Tune/Driver etc.

I have seen a car with 2530's running low 10's on the stock bottom end.. just like I have seen cars with N1 turbo's and a PowerFC running mid 13's. :D

    • You know what, I am enjoying your updates, but I have to say it is pretty poor form to walk into a shop that is paying for space and stock on the floor, try all their seats to work out what you are happy with, then buy somewhere else. If everyone did that the shop will be out of business with no opportunity for anyone to try a seat before buying. 👎
    • Good work, and thanks for posting up your solution for future people!
    • Yeah mate that’s the plan, I just want something I can have fun in and work on during weekends.  There’s really only 1 road fit to drive the car on and luckily is been redone recently.  I do want to tune it next year sometime, no dynos here so I’m looking at an ECU that can be remote tuned.
    • To what gain?
    • Initially I thought having a pair of Recaro seats would be a big bonus, it turns out these do get a little uncomfortable on long journeys (my fault, not the seat). I had a look through the GSM Performance website at reclining seats and booked an appointment to visit their show room. I got the Recaro Sportster CS for the R34 from here, was very happy with the service received so of course a re-visit was in order. Unfortunately the two Corbeau seats I had chosen aren't on display but they had 4 other options available. Two seats dug into my back, one dug into my legs and the other was perfect. I also found out that Recaro seats use a larger bolt pattern so some adaption was required. Luckily GSM offer some universal adaptors that should solve this problem. I searched the interwebs for price comparisons and Corbeau themselves were the cheapest at £300 cheaper (for the pair). I asked GSM if they could price match, unfortunately they couldn't. I later received an email saying Corbeau would honour them the same discount, but the purchase was already made. I did however order the brackets from GSM, both arrived on the same day. I started with the passenger side seat, knowing this was going to be a little trial and error. There are 3 mounting holes at the front and 2 at the rear on these JURAN Racing seat rails.  With the adaptor brackets mounted, the allen cap bolts started to push into the seat, NOT GOOD!  The rear mounting holes lined up but there were issues at the front. The holes were 1/2 hole out, so the brackets got a tickle with the drill to modify the holes. The supplied bolts weren't going to be long enough and a spacer was needed to stop the adaptor bars from bending. A local fasteners company supplied be with some nylon spacers and longer bolts (M8x30, although these will be replaced with 35mm long shortly) A before and after I pre-drilled the front bracket before making a start on the driver's seat to save some time. And in no time at all that was in the car too. The all black seats have transformed the interior and these are MUCH more comfortable. The only downside with the new Corbeau seats is I sit a little higher, but I'll happily accept that over discomfort. The Youtube video can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wPyttKPktXA
