Err, I think ~1390kg is the 'dry' weight - ie with no fuel, people etc on board, this is the value normally quoted by the manufacturer ('cus it's the lowest!).

1580 is probably the average loaded weight which is the value the roading people use as not many cars travel round with no fuel and driver!

Hmm. My corolla has 990kg (86 model) on the paper which I don't know what it includes...

Mines a 93,

I thought these cars were lighter than a commodore which is around 1580...

I'll have to find out what that measurement is - I dont thinkthey include people in the rego one.

Thanks for the reply 51Jay - Is that wahat is on your rego papers? Bit heavier than I would have thought...

I though tthe tare weight was unladen weight, so it shouldn't include driver or petrol.

Could we go to them with this extract from the R33 service manual to get them to adjust the weight?

The origional question was "what is the weight of a 4 door"

I replied with the actual weight of my R33 4 door with driver and 1/2 tank of fuel.

There is no weight mentioned anywhere on my rego papers

My Coupe's rego papers state 1370 tare weight and if I remember correctly John at UAS told me our car was 1375 on the weighbridge when he got it 1st regoed. No ABS but I have every other option.

Neil.

I can't see a sedan weighing that much more either but remember you do actually have doors,,,electric windows,,,locks and all the other associated stuff that goes with the extra doors. Maybe 30 to 50 extra but not 200. Maybe do a little homework and find out say the difference between a 4 door commodore and the 2 door monaro. Might give you some indication.

John told me back when we bought ours (3 years ago) it had to go to the weigh-bridge before the RTA,,,maybe that has all changed nowadays.

Good luck buddy

Neil.

Thanks Neil.

Yeah - was sort of interested in how heavy it really is and also could save $100 a year if it is registered at what I think wil be the correct weight (1580kgs...cant be that heavy..my old large mazda 929 was 1180kgs tare weight).

I had a dealing with John and others at UAS - they were really good I must say.

Like you said there are a few extras for the extra 2 doors.

    • I might be way off the mark here.. there must be a T junction under the manifold. That takes manifold pressure through a check valve prior to the T, one side splits out to this bleed off orifice, the other straight to the wastegate actuators.
    • Carrying out some engine due diligence before my first drive in a 260RS that has been in storage for 10+ years, and found two lines that are susposed to be plumbed into the boost control solenoid. One of the lines (the wastegate boost supply line) to actuate the gates, had a bolt in one end blocking it. The other line (main boost signal line) from the very rear of the intake manifold (RB26DETT) and runs up to the boost controller had this pill in the end of it as seen in photos. Other than the obvious (T28 Ceramic turbos might well be cooked)  Can anyone shed any light on if there is any validity at all with this mod, bleeding a constant fixed rate of manifold boost pressure off through this 3mm hole?  Is it deliberate?  Was this a 90s Jap mod done to RB26's? Or has someone just fitted this without any idea of what happens to ceramic T28s if they are not gate controlled?
    • This looks great! Awesome to have the 5 speed with an LSD in this. The Recaro's look like SR2's or SR3's. It's a shame they've been retrimmed as they would have looked sweet in their original colours. I think I'd want my agent to be a little more up front and informative too. I've never imported but I reckon it would make me a little nervous, so the more info the better.
    • Thanks for doing that Duncan! Makes you a good person in my books. We don't get kangaroos or wombats here. But we have bats and it's similar. AFAIK it's often the mums with a baby attached that get hit because they drop lower when starting from a tree. If you hit an animal, check on it. https://www.ifaw.org/au/resources/wildlife-rescue-app An app to get the closest wildlife rescue contact.
