Hello peoples,

I have purchased the above mentioned item from japan. The box looks trick but it must need some sort of harware mounting kit to bolt to factory mounts.

Does anyone have one of these on there car?

cheers

Christian

Sorry to bring an old post back fom the dead but did you manage to fit the airbox OK in the end?

(any pics)

I am having trouble fitting my ARC induction box to my ECR33.

Bolt holes dont appear to line up.

I've got one of these on my 33... looks trick as but I am not impressed with the design as it just sucks hot air and I don't know how to get cool air to it without putting a vent the bonnet!

but yeah can take some pics of the install if you like?

If you can post a couple of pics to see how it lines up and should look that would be great.

I am sure this will be of interest to prospective purchasers as well.

old thread I know have been considering one of these with the same sorta querys as to how to plumb air to it thinking that a bonnet vent is gunna allow water onto the top filter prob not a good thing ever end up with a solution?

i got one and yeah the design isnt too logical is it? wasnt a smooth fit either but it fits. it seems really close to the bonnet when closed yeah so theres not much room for air to induct. i was thinking of modifying the stocker snorkel to get some air in.

with all the other kits ive seen on gtrs and evos they have 2 filters and one faces the passenger light so u can duct something up or remove the light on track days for better induction....why arent the 33s the same?

id still prefer these to a pod any day..lol

Looking at purchasing one for my 32(GT-R),as pods suck waaaay too much hot air,and I'd like something legal, and different,to the stocker.... Anyone got pic's/hints/headaches/tuning tips they'd like to share?

Had been considering one with a bonnet something like the one attached looks like the vent might be a little to far back though not an ideal solution but would do the trick I reckon very interested in any install pics in an bnr32 and/or experiences installing not good to hear they are an awkward fit in the 33 makes me wonder a little but still keen

I found that the intial problem with fitting was that I had an aftermarket intercooler-to-throttle body pipe, stopped the brackets and mounting points lining up. Fits perfectly now I have changed the piping.

Also, If anyone needs an aftermarket air filter to fit the ARC ECR33 airbox the K&N 33-2017 (originally for RX-7) fits perfectly.

from what ive seen in pics in the for sales section, the 32gtr ARC box is better designed that the ecr33's. the have two filter pannels, one facing up and the other facing the front so you can pipe cold air there if your clever enough.

thanks for the heads up on the KnN filter.....but you just cant beat the original arc filter, they look prettier..ha

But because the current one has the filter direct into the AFM inlet, you effectively have the best chance of a completely symmetric air flow profile upstream, and in, the AFM, whilst the aftermarket inlet thingo has a (small, to be sure) bend between the filter and the AFM. That would bias the flow to the outside of the bend (downstream of the bend) which might well reduce the size of the signal seen by the AFM, for the same total flow rate. Having said that: If you're proposing to make your inlet look like a hybrid of your existing one and the aftermarket one, such that there is no bend where the filter is clamped on... then I say it will be just fine. If there is going to be such a bend, then, if you can align the insertion of the AFM blade such that it is at right angles to the plane of the bend, then there is a better than even chance that the centreline velocity where the blade is will remain more or less the same, and the velocity will just be a little faster to the outside of that, and just a little slower to the inside. **This is not professional investment advice and you should consult a suitably qualified ouija board, tea leaves or the intestines of a goat for more accurate prognostication.
    • Hi Tao, Thanks for your reply.  It's been a while and I managed to get the valve stem seals replaced with the head on the car.  Unfortunately this didn't solve my issue, the car still smokes a lot after idling (to be honest during idle you can see a bit of blue smoke from the exhaust), same after deceleration. I will try disconnecting the valve cover breathers, do I leave the PCV valve in? By engine oil drain pipe, do you mean the turbo oil drain?
    • What about if you just give it direct 12v and earth?
    • Hi guys . Can someone help me  I bought an Android screen for my Nissan fuga but it won't turn on
    • My guesstimate, with no real numbers to back it up, is it won't effect it greatly at all.its not a huge change in position, and I can't see the air flow changing from in turbulence that much based on distance, and what's in front of it. Johnny and Brad may have some more numbers to share from experience though.
