Hi all, Looking for some recommendations for performance workshops in the springvale clayton S.E area. I've been out of the SAU loop for a while and RE Customs aren't around anymore, thats how long its been =) Need to get clutch done and possibly a PFC install and tune. There are a few local workshops in Springvale that have popped up over the years, has anyone here used any of them? Cheers.

Howdy all, So my Exedy heavy duty push button clutch is slipping terribly. Should I rebuild it or just replace it? I'm thinking it's just cheaper to replace. Note - don't let your pops drive your car if he has no idea about clutches =) Cheers

Well guys, I ended up taking out the bracket and stretched wider with a car jack + a little bashing with a plank of wood. Took me 20 mins to modify and mount, very snug fit and no paint lost. A worthwhile method to try first before pulling out the angle grinder =) Need bigger terminals now. I paid $329 at autobarn, needed it asap so no time to shop around. i think its not a bad price for convenience though. Yeah, i was thinking about that also. My normal heavy duty Diamec battery lasted me a good 7yrs till now. I'll see how long this lasts, and switch back if it doesn't prove any better.

Thanks shane! I'll look into it. What year is your 33? mine is a 95 series 1.5 and the metal bay is about 3-5mm too narrow. It may fit if i bashed it in or shave the battery..lol

Hi guys, i figured i'd post this in the vic section cause i need a new battery pronto and was after some advice. I bought an Optima D34 yellow top today from autobarn and the bloody thing doesn't fit, its 5mm too long (254mm). I am now considering the yellow or red top 75/25 model or the red top 25/35 models that is slightly smaller (234mm) in length but not sure if autobarn have them in stock for a swap. Not sure if i really need a deep cycle as the alarm is the only thing sucking juice but the thought of being able to recharge the thing again a couple times if it ever goes flat is a nice thought. Originally was running a Diamec battery from a group buy in 2004 that has lasted me till now =). I'd even be happy with that if i could find a distributor in melb. Does anyone know of a place that has those particular Optima and Diamec models on shelf or recommend me another alternative battery? I have heard of people putting in marine batteries in. cheers guys

i always thought that the lowest part was measured before and after the axles too. I still got canaried for my second exhaust pipe that runs right under my rear diff for being 10mm too low. would have liked to have had a chat with the officer further about this rule cause his attitude was alright, event though he popped a U-turn and chased me down for 2k's for a "Random" check, and sent me an EPA on my exhaust without telling me....f**kker! old smart ass vic roads guy checking the car next to mine when i was clearing it made a "have fun with this one" comment to his colleague who was checking my car, implying that i was a typical hoon with a bag full of dodgy illegal mods. f**kkk you too mr vic roads guy you f**kk face! took 2 secs to clear it. end RANT! lol

you may be surprised if you have a good friendly chat to the parts guy and ask about trade or discounted price. when i was sourcing my 100km service parts i had a good chat with an enthusiastic parts guy, he ended up giving me some sort of discount without me even asking. top bloke!

i considered my 33 to be quite boggy in first gear, it was one of 2 gears i didnt much like, 3rd being the other. fitted a semi-lightened flywheel and a quick tune and it is absolutely pirky as in first now aswell as 3rd. it was the very first thing i noticed when driving it from the workshop, the car actually wanted to go in first instead of being forced to go. but back on topic....ha.

were those 2 random checks really random?...lol agreed, drive sensibly and you will be ok....most of the time =)
