111 in a 60 zone. lost it for 3 months. i did not drive at all by choice and it was hell. well, i was on the trains every day and we all know how pleasant that is.

now that i look back i know i benefited from loosing my licese;

i don't speed anymore (and that's not cause i drive a camry for those that feel compelled to tease me:( ).

during the 3 months i learned a fair bit about cars as i had nothing else to do.

i discovered the SDU forums and thus got involved with these forums. through that i've met 100's of ppl from all over the place. i even went to qld so i got to meet some of the guys up there. if loosing my license led to meeting everyone on here i'd do it again without any hesitation.

my car has been long gone and i might never own another skyline but i'm still here and that's cause of the friends i've made

My liscense is currently suspended because of speeding.

If you get caught driving while disqualified it's 6 months jail. No shit, my mate had to do a "bad driver's" course and they have just changed a whole lot of laws.

Not advisable at all

Anyone know what the penalty is for being caught with no licence? i was caught about a month ago and am facing court next week on tuesday, i dont care about the $$$ i just really want to know if they will suspend me for longer, (i have already lost it for 3 months). So is it just a fine or do they take your licence for a year or so? George the reason i drive is for work purposes and when it is urgent to get around i dont go cruising anymore or nothing...

I feel like shit i am getting my skyline back after 4 months in the workshop, i have payed all my outstanding fines and now i will lose my licence and recieve more major fines! it feels like i will never be able to drive my skyline again.:) :) :)

i am currently on suspension for speeding 160km/h on freeway to brissy (was going up there to see the hks gtr... arggg drag combat costed me a bit...). got pulled over twice , all up $1474 + $188. and 6 + 3 points = $1662 and 9pts i've spent to see the hks gtr...

and suspension finally finishes in 15days, though i am on 'good behaviour' term for one-whole-farking-year till 16th Nov "2003".

and for the driving whilst suspended... very risky and expensive. my cousin got caught by an undercover after he went thru 3 red lights and was speeding while he was suspended... he got nearly $5000 worths of fines and 3years of suspension... (but his record was BAD maybe it was a one-off special case...)

I lost 33 something points (its more like 36)

Anyways, lost it for 18months got it back in july.

Got pulled over once for driving while suspended.......he gave me a fine for $388.00 Driving with a expired liscence, apparently there was some mix up @ the RTA and yeh it came up as expired not suspended.

My bro just went to court recently he lost it for 3 months and on the LAST day of his suspension he was busted. Not for speeding or anything just a random thing. Went to court,

Judge" why were u driving while under suspension?"

My bro " i was going to pay off the fines so i could get my liscence back the next day"

Judge " hmm, well come back in a month show me the reciepts for the fines and i wont disqualify you"

My bro " OooooKKkkkkk......."

My brother was just lucky we had heaps of unpaid fines so we just gathered up all the fines and paid for them.

Went back to court in a month and judge let him off.

So...just lucky i guess it happens.

Sux though, can't drive your beloved car, then all the deep thoughts get ya "wats the point of driving such a fast car" "wats to point in doing it up to make it go faster" rar rar.... the voice's won't go away!!!

BUt u hang in there stick it out and yeh u be alright, This is my 2nd R33 and well wat can i say, BIG LEARNING experiece my last one, this one im much more wiser in,

DOnnie

Only cost me $360 or something...

It's already kinda folklore in the office.

I was doing 95+ (going onto 120 or so) in a 50 zone...

Overtaking an unmarked Camry police car...

On a bridge...

On a double yellow line...

With a cancelled license...

And I gave the officer a nasty glare as I passed him for doing 40 in a 50 zone.

w00t!!!

If they stacked penalties you'd be ****ed.

For me...

$360 for no license

$500+ for 45 over plus more three months?

$184+ 3 points for double yellow.

It all gets a bit ridiculous. I am glad I didn't have a license, if I did I would be suspended for 3 months... this way I just pay and drive again :)

Yeah it really does depend on the judge and the mood he is in. I will post up here on tuesday with the court story! I am on my way now to give them my plea bargain.

    • The rain is the best time to push to the edge of the grip limit. Water lubrication reduces the consumption of rubber without reducing the fun. I take pleasure in driving around the outside of numpties in Audis, WRXs, BRZs, etc, because they get all worried in the wet. They warm up faster than the engine oil does.
    • When they're dead cold, and in the wet, they're not very fun. RE003 are alright, they do harden very quickly and turn into literally $50 Pace tyres.
    • Yeah, I thought that Reedy's video was quite good because he compared old and new (as in, well used and quite new) AD09s, with what is generally considered to be the fast Yokohama in this category (ie, sporty road/track tyres) and a tyre that people might be able to use to extend the comparo out into the space of more expensive European tyres, being the Cup 2. No-one would ever agree that the Cup 2 is a poor tyre - many would suggest that it is close to the very top of the category. And, for them all to come out so close to each other, and for the cheaper tyre in the test to do so well against the others, in some cases being even faster, shows that (good, non-linglong) tyres are reaching a plateau in terms of how good they can get, and they're all sitting on that same plateau. Anyway, on the AD08R, AD09, RS4 that I've had on the car in recent years, I've never had a problem in the cold and wet. SA gets down to 0-10°C in winter. Not so often, but it was only 4°C when I got in the car this morning. Once the tyres are warm (ie, after about 2km), you can start to lay into them. I've never aquaplaned or suffered serious off-corner understeer or anything like that in the wet, that I would not have expected to happen with a more normal tyre. I had some RE003s, and they were shit in the dry, shit in the wet, shit everywhere. I would rate the RS4 and AD0x as being more trustworthy in the wet, once the rubber is warm. Bridgestone should be ashamed of the RE003.
    • This is why I gave the disclaimer about how I drive in the wet which I feel is pretty important. I have heard people think RS4's are horrible in the rain, but I have this feeling they must be driving (or attempting to drive) anywhere close to the grip limit. I legitimately drive at the speed limit/below speed the limit 100% of the time in the rain. More than happy to just commute along at 50kmh behind a train of cars in 5th gear etc. I do agree with you with regards to the temp and the 'quality' of the tyre Dose. Most UHP tyres aren't even up to temperature on the road anyway, even when going mad initial D canyon carving. It would be interesting to see a not-up-to-temp UHP tyre compared against a mere... normal...HP tyre at these temperatures. I don't think you're (or me in this case) is actually picking up grip with an RS4/AD09 on the road relative to something like a RE003 because the RS4/AD09 is not up to temp and the RE003 is closer to it's optimal operating window.
    • Either the bearing has been installed backwards OR the gearbox input shaft bearing is loosey goosey.   When in doubt, just put in a Samsonas in.
