Just wondering if anyone tunes their own cars?

I`ve been doing some reseach and it seems that it can`t be that hard to tune youre own factory ECU`s. Firstly desolder and put a socket in your ecu so the Eprom can be easily changed. Seccondly buy or make a cable like this (http://www.plmsdevelopments.com/consult_if.htm) to download the tuning from someone that has the same setup as you or find someone that has something similar and using the Live edit software (http://www.engineers.auckland.ac.nz/~lmoo016/) make minor changes. Next borrow or buy a Eprom burner and put the chip in.

I realise that without the use of a dyno the tuning will not be exact but I believe there are some people on these forums that sell tuned roms just by hearing what mods you have thus the above must be achievable.

If you have any thoughts or suggestions I would like to hear them.
