gearbox

Just got my car back after booking it in for a clutch and cambelt replacement, while they were dumping the oil out of my gearbox they noticed a half tooth off my main input shaft sprocket, had stuck it's self to the drain plug. $1850 later my car is fixed.

Just wondering if anyone knows if this is caused by wear and tear or just pure abuse of the drivetrain?, i'm pretty gentle with my box, a few hard changes but thats it.

Sounds like it's had at least one VERY hard and missed shift in its life. These things should never snap off due to normal wear and tear. It is possible if the sprocket had a flaw in it when it was manufactured, but far more likely to have been broken due to abuse.

While were on the topic of gear box's...

I have recently noticed my car crunches really bad when changing from 4th to 5th at about 90-100 plus k's.... It used to do it like at 150ks but not at 90-100... not impressed.

Is there anything I can do to fix this problem quickly or is this a big problem?

Thanks for your help on this.

Cheers

Rob
