Why go spending $800 on bosch or nismo afms when rb20/25 afm's fit into the inlet piping fine and also use the same plug? ive seen people on here make over 500rwhp first and seeing as you can pickup these afms for less than $100 ea I dont know why people go straight for z32's and such

Yeh true but I don't really intend on getting anywere near 450rwkw so should be fine

i dont think you would get 450kw from rb20 if mine are anything to go by as i'm right on there limit just over 5 volts and i know they go to about 5.13 i think off the top of head so it's more like about 400kw limit which is still big ponys

i will be selling my two as soon as i get to z32 replacements organised so 7heaven if you would like some drop me a line [email protected]

i cant wait to get this thing back on the track but i got some work to do on gearbox and tyres before then and who knows where it might go from the 11.33sec 125mph it ran on about a 490/500 tune with shit tyres.

Hi pnblight, why do the WA guys start their dyno graphs at 100 kph plus? The car has to start from 0 kph, it helps when you know what power it has where. Sure it makes the power graph LOOK impressive, nice and fat, but it robs us information soaks of the full story.

So how about a full graph? Pleeeeease:cheers:

Other than that i can say it does have good bottom end and pulls well from 3000rpm off the motor and hits full boost at about 4000rpm and its all fun from there hehe. But syndeykid if you have any question please dont hesitate to pm me (or ah i fly off shore tomorrow (work )send me your number i'll give you a call)

I went for brand new Nismo items, purely because they are brand new.

Z32 and RB20 AFMs are over 10 years old now and I witnessed a GTR destroying a motor because of an AFM failure.

pnblight,

I've been reading on your cars progress on here and each time I end up scratching my head. Firstly, your cam gear settings surely makes me think WTF even today and now achieving near on 400rwkw on 20psi with reasonably small turbos.

Your 125mph makes a little more sense however as I did 126mph with ~340rwkw on a VIC dyno.

ha i dont claim to know all of why the cam gears ended up where they did(it just worked for us) but simply passing on wot we found hopely to try and help others the 125mph was on a 490hp to 500hp(370kw)(so not alot different from yours) at 2 wheels tune i had turned it down a bit from the 518hp and i was having traction problems, But thats the reason i post the mph to try and show a true indicaion of wot is going on ,i hind no secrets any questions i'll try an answer

I appreciate the fact that you are passing on the info you have.

I wasn't having a dig (for a change:)), just passing on the info I have.

yeah cool no worries but i can understand your your hesitation with some of the other stuff flying around at the moment.

To be honest, -and don't be offended for being blunt- the other stuff that flies around is no different to me than what you claim.

For the record, the specs you've listed are very similar to mine. I have stock cams, 2530s, Nismo AFMs and a Bosch 044 with sard 700ccs. Only way I could claim 400rwkw was with race fuel, extra timing and boost peaking at 25-26 psi.

Do people realize that most of the disagreements on this board are related to a dyno figure...?

At the end of it all, how many GTRs are there that have done ~125mph...? The answer would be, quite a lot and I'm sure most would claim somewhat different horsepower.

    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
    • Yeah mate, never miss it.
    • Any going to watch World Time Attack at SMSP this year?
    • Appreciate the correction on the "ground", that will make a huge difference to looking at this. That makes complete sense about AF70/AF71 which is what I had come down to being the issue, one of these. I'll have another look in the ignition wiring when I get a chance next week. I'll also make up a jumper wire for running that AF73 test.  ECU is fine, relay itself is fine, pump harness is fine and the pump itself is fine. I am going to upgrade the Walbro 255 anyway with a DW300 I have since I need to replace the fuel sender and I'm going to upgrade the FPR with my chasebays kit ready for new plenum/injectors/dbw, but I'll get this working first. That's why this is so frustrating.
