Have an R32 GTR which has had fire damage and I am trying to make up my mind what to do with it.

The damage is mainly contained to the interior which has now been gutted including all wiring and it will need a new roof skin. There are no doors, front or rear bumpers etc. and there is slight damage to the LH rear taillight panel and quarter. Despite all of this I believe it is wothwhile saving and put back on the road possibly as a convertible (if you are looking for something different) or it would be a perfect canditate for a race car. This car was registered in NSW but the registration has since lapsed.

I am open to selling it complete with the majority of the running gear or just as a bare shell but don't really feel like parting it out.

If there is enough interest I will give more details and appropriate prices.

Thanks in advance.

So the driveline/motor is still intact/undamaged and was operational (but not anymore due to wiring not being there). I may be interested. Got any pics of damaged areas?

Cheers

Hi Mate,

I Am Very Interested In The Car As A Whole, Let Me Know Of The Price That You Want, Pm Me With More Details Such As Location In Syd And A Contact Number, I Will Take Asap If It Is The Right Price.

Thank You

The driveline was intact when purchased but I bought the car to get another motor for my race car so it has since been removed. The motor from my race car is available but the bottom end is stuffed as a rod went through the block and sump etc. The head has some slight damage but is salvageable and there are no turbo's.

Post a price please as per the rules.

Yeh I knew this was coming. I have asked for expressions of interest to help me figure out how best to advertise it and will try to do something in this regard soon. I will also try to post some pic's and more details as soon as I can but work commitments don't allow me much time on the computer these days.

Make no bones about it, this is a major project if someone wants to get it back on the road but it would handy to use if rebuilding a wreck.

I am in two minds as to sell this thing as I had envisaged keeping it as a spare for my race car but storage is an issue.

i am interested can you like give me an idea on pricing such us under $10 000 or above, pm me with details wen ur ready.

thanx

Price would definately be below 10K because of the work required and I was thinking of something in the order of 5K.

I will offer $5000 as long as it is registerable

I can't see why it couldn't be re-registered and this is around the price I was thinking of. Send me a PM and I will give you my contact number.

I will try to post more details soon but have to log off again.

Regards,

']mr r33 = time waster

trust me

Rx-7 how can you make that call, I don't even know you or lepperfish for that matter. I have been a member for quite sometime and have never had any misdealings with anyone so whats the story????

ok i will sort out the story, RX-7 i saw his R32 GTR for sale, it was nice and i was ready to buy, but i was $5000 short at the time, then with my job, i havent got all the money yet.

Lepperfish, i was talking to him about his car in the forums, cause it seemed nice, but i never saw it so i dont know y he is making this statement about me.

so the chassis still has proper history and can be reused?

can you PM me the Japanese VIN number on the chassis?

Well thats fair enough, but if you knew you didnt have the money why did you ask me to hold it for you for 2 weeks?

I THOUGHT, THAT YOU WERE HOLDING IT FOR ME, BUT STILL SHOWING IT TO PEOPLE, AND YOU WERE GOIN TO LET ME KNOW IF THERE WAS ANOTHER BUYER, THATS WHAT I THOUGHT YOU WERE DOING.

Yes the chassis can be reused. I assume by proper history you are asking if it was properly imported and complied? If this is what you are asking I can confirm this was the case.

By Japanese VIN number do you mean the one stamped on the firewall?

I have some photos available but am not sure how to post to this thread so I can email them to any interested parties on request.

I can also confirm that there are no brake calipers or rotors, no intercooler, no lights or bootlid/wing.

    • BOVs do have a purpose, if you ever log pressure before and after the throttle body, you will see a spike pre throttle on lift off from a WOT condition. Enough to bend throttle blades / damage e-throttle motors or simple assist in blowing off cooler pipes. FWIW, the above on really applies to those running at least 2 bar of boost. OP shouldn't have an issue, on the other hand, here are some videos of my shit box over a decade ago with some succulent dose with the airbox on and off. That shit box is unrecognisable these days 🫠
    • I've tried all different combinations of BOVs/ no BOV and stock bypass valves over the years, on gear changes the stock bypass valve seems to get the car back on boost quicker because in part the turbos wheel speed isn't being slowed down by reversion, although they have issues holding boost much over the stock setting. Most aftermarket BOVs you can adjust the spring, tighter will make it open later and close sooner, but in my experience it'll cause a bit of flutter at low load/rpm anyway. I've also got some input into this whole no bov causing turbo wear, never had an issue on any on my turbos HOWEVER, I got my R33 GTST with 200k kms on it, with from what I can see still has the original turbo, no lateral shaft play but has about 4-5mm of play in and out which to me seems like a worn thrust bearing from years (100-150k kms?) of turbo flutter running no bov, so maybe there is some truth to it in the long run. But that'll never stop me loving the Stutututu while I have the car.   OP just wants to know if he can run a atmo vented BOV with no major issues and the answer is YES, plenty of people do it, there's no harm in installing it and seeing how it runs before spending $$$ on an aftermarket ecu, last time I bought a Nistune it was $2400 for install and a tune , unsure of todays prices but you get me. Crazy money to spend just to fix the minor inconvenience of stalling that can be overcome by letting the revs come down to near idle before putting the clutch in or a little bit of throttle to avoid it. You're better off leaving the ecu and tune for after a bigger turbo/injectors have been installed to take full advantage of the tune and get your moneys worth.   Let OP have his Whoosh sound without trying to break his bank haha
    • I see you missed the rest of the conversation where they have benefits, but nothing to do with avoiding breaking turbos, which is what the aftermarket BOV made all the fan boys, tuners, and modders believe was the only purpose for them...
    • But they do so for the other reasons to have a compressor bypass. It's in the name.
