Hey all,

Can i get some help as to where i plumb these parts up to...

In this pic is underneath the greddy plenum, i've got some water lines and the AAC valve. I've cirlced the ends that i need to hook up so some help there would be nice :)

plenum2.jpg

This pic has 2 water pipes that i dont know where they are meant to be plumbed up to... I also have the heater circuit to go inside the car.. which is only 2 pipes, AND i'll need to either run a water return or feed (which ever one is on this side of the block) from here too i take it?

And lastly on this side of the block where are my oil feed, water feed/return :(

The one in yellow is the air regulator valve (basically adds air when the engine is cold and slowly closes as it heats up), the other is the idle control valve. The yellow circled hose should be plumbed into the under side of the plenum somewhere. The 2 bare fittings can be connected and the green circled hose should be tapped into the intake pipe just in front of the throttle body. They aren't water fittings.

The water fitting on the side of the block i have no idea but the 2 smaller fittings off the top are for the stock throttle body water feed and return.

The oil feed is the one directly above the oil return fitting with what looks like a bolt in it and the water feed is at the back of the block right up the top. The other water feed runs around the back of the head and hooks into the back of the intake manifold i think.

Is this an rb20 or 25? as you have what looks like an rb25 aac valve but no water cooling on the oil filter which may be what the other 2 fittings would normally connect to.

While the exhaust manifold is off i'd be swaping the exhaust studs too as the stock ones like to snap off, particularly the front and rear one. It'll cost less than 50 bucks and save you alot of hassle later on

cheers BHDave :)

I thought one of them was a water line! silly me ;)

That information should come in handy :(

I do have another spare set of exh manifold studs, so i'll see how i go with getting them out, i just dont want to snap one off.

with the 2 water fittings on the block, which one is a feed and which is a return.... i really dont wanna plumb a return into a feed and have the flow clash

Its on an Rb25 head with the rb30 block for reference.

thanks again... any more info would be lovely :)

I had a snapped one at the back on an engine i bought and the front snapped off when i was test fitting a new exhaust manifold. I hate removing snapped studs so i swapped them all for new ones. Auto one stock them if your interested.

With the water lines on the block one will be a high pressure and one a low pressure so as long as you plumb it with that in mind you should be right, even if you just connect them together. I'm assuming now as i dont know if the rb30 had water lines running to the throttle body.

i'd take it the one with high pressure would be the one right behind the water pump??

i'm not going to run water lines thru the throttle body as its all on a greddy plenum, i just need to sort out water lines for my turbo return, and heater circuit.. that should be it

with the cold start valve... is it always open or closed when disconnected? as i think that might cause an air leak if i dont have it plugged into the loom ?

Yep, the yellow ? connects to the green ? too.

I'd say the two big ones will be the heater circuit and you can simply connect the two smaller ones off the top of the larger lines. I'd be guessing but i reckon the front would be the higher pressure one.

For the turbo water return there should be a water connection at the back of the plenum and the other is a banjo as mentioned in my first post.

    • Hi, i’m making a rb25det coil loom for Vag short coil. Can anybody tell me which Ecu signal wire belong to coil number 1 and 2,3,4,5,6? The connecting switch in above pic is 8 wire i think white is for +12v and black for earth.

    • Its a 2002 vr-x four VQ25DET, silver. Coil overs, lowered, polished alloys and sport exhaust. Bit of a project, was sitting in a shed for a while but runs and drives great.
    • I wasn’t able to replicate the sound anymore. It was a one time sound so maybe it was just coincidence but it was like small pebbles being dropped in a coke can.   should I try cleaning the MAF? It could be it’s functioning but dirty? I don’t know.
    • Update 4: Hi all. The car drives again! Haven't driven for long, only to store it in the garage again, but the test drive was successful. The coolant and oil leaks seem to be fixed for now. Temps on the engine were also very good, while moving I never even saw 80C water during the approx. 30 minute drive. Ate up all the coolant in the reservoir though so will have to fill that even more when I go to the car next time. One thing that pisses me off is that the RPM gauge is still f**ked, I even resoldered the board twice and used copper paste on the silly screws that are used as connections. Next time I take it out I'll take apart the board and fit new components, I'll see if I can get a replacement IC for it.  I have an appointment set for 22nd of September for the engine tune to 370hp. Alignment also still needs to be done. My hope is that I can get all the legal stuff over with by the end of this season. Anyone of you have advice regarding intercoolers? Currently there is an APEXI core fitted, one of those weird hybrid ones, 600x270x76. I don't think it's bad but it's not new and now I still have the chance to change it now to legally include it in the paperwork. Only issue is that the only options that would arrive in time are a HKS Type R intercooler or generic Ebay spec intercoolers comparable to a JustJap one. Ideally I'd order a Plazmaman but it takes over a month to receive which would mean making the car legal has to wait until next season. Would love to hear some input on this. Same story for my injectors, the previous owner was a nunce and put ID 1050x on the engine. They work but are obviously not ideal at "normal" power levels. But I don't see a reason to change them unless the tuner says it's necessary. I read online before buying a different exhaust that the top secret style rear diffusers won't fit due to the size of the rear resonators. My buddy and I made it work by slightly "adjusting the shape" of the mounting bracket and making some spacers out of 3d print for the mounting bolts. Fits like a charm. Just putting this here in case someone has this problem. Even the hefty HKS Silent Hi Power rear can fits without hitting anything.
