g'day fellaws.

i have installed a stage 3 boost controller. but i cant set the psi's.

at all 3 stages the psi are set to min. but on ma boost gauge it shows 14.5psi at the 3 stages.

now i noe that 14.5psi is going to kill ma tubo and thats y i need ur help ASAP.

have a look at the pics. tell me if i left a hose out or didnt block a hose... or wrong way around.

wateva helps.

now its electronic obviously. so i got the wiring done by a mechanic.

im not sure if the stock solonoid should stay wired, and jst bypass the hoses, or disconnect completly?

thanks guys any help will be greatly appreciated.

Plumb your new ebc directly to the actuator and a point just after the compressor outlet or where ever the r33 gets it's boost signal from and bypass the factory solenoid completely. You can leave the solenoid hooked up but just make sure you block off any hoses that will cause a boost leak.

so i can completely remove the stock solonoid! great. there are no hoses going to this solonoid anymore! nothing to block

where is the actuator , i thought wastegate is the safer and more logical way to connect the ebc to!?!

jst cant figure y i cant set ma boost less dan 14.5psi...

:bs!:

Ah, thought you had the two in tandem as the new ebc is tee'd into something.

The actuator controls the wastegate so we're probably talking about the same thing.

So now i'm stumped because if you remove the facory boost controller the boost should drop as the wastegate is pretty soft so with the new ebc hooked up and switched off it should read about 6-8psi depending on other mods

mods = 3inch madrel bent turbo back [nismo], apexi intake & apexi bov.

its jst hooked up to the elec solonoid, stock one no longer is hosed or wired to anything! i tried wiring the stock solonoid but no diference.

the 2 blue hoses are the only thing conected to the new solonoid and the wiring to the controls in the cabin.... i have check the instructions and the hoses are going into the right coms, maybe this will giv u a beter idea.....

thanks bhdave...

The question is, is it a plumbing problem or an electronic set up problem.

The way I do it;

Eliminate the plumbing possibility first. Unplug the wiring from boost control solenoid, but leave the vacuum hoses. You should have standard boost, the only thing holding the wastegate closed is the spring rate in the wastegate actuator.

If you have normal (low boost) then it is an electronic set up problem. Reconnect the wiring and read the set up instructions. Set it up EXACTLY as per the instructions.

Hope that helps:cheers:

if it was electrical , wat would it be....

as i am sure that the ign, earth, blue ext, purple ext are properly connected, the graydoes not need to be connected as im runnig closed loop.

my only dout is that the mechanic connected the orange [boost sensor wire] in the wrong spot!?

any help'?

Don't worry about it, it's blocking the stock BOV return line as they have fitted an atmo venting BOV.

All you need is to tee into a boost signal point (basically any point between the turbo compressor outlet and the plenum will do, your diagram has it tapped into the fuel reg signal line by the look of it which should work okish) and a connection to the actuator. No tees in the connection between the solenoid and the actuator, just a single bit of pipe.

If it's connected this way and you switch off the ebc you should have slightly less than the cars stock boost and so you have eliminated any problem with the plumbing as SK has stated.

    • I wasn’t able to replicate the sound anymore. It was a one time sound so maybe it was just coincidence but it was like small pebbles being dropped in a coke can.   should I try cleaning the MAF? It could be it’s functioning but dirty? I don’t know.
    • Update 4: Hi all. The car drives again! Haven't driven for long, only to store it in the garage again, but the test drive was successful. The coolant and oil leaks seem to be fixed for now. Temps on the engine were also very good, while moving I never even saw 80C water during the approx. 30 minute drive. Ate up all the coolant in the reservoir though so will have to fill that even more when I go to the car next time. One thing that pisses me off is that the RPM gauge is still f**ked, I even resoldered the board twice and used copper paste on the silly screws that are used as connections. Next time I take it out I'll take apart the board and fit new components, I'll see if I can get a replacement IC for it.  I have an appointment set for 22nd of September for the engine tune to 370hp. Alignment also still needs to be done. My hope is that I can get all the legal stuff over with by the end of this season. Anyone of you have advice regarding intercoolers? Currently there is an APEXI core fitted, one of those weird hybrid ones, 600x270x76. I don't think it's bad but it's not new and now I still have the chance to change it now to legally include it in the paperwork. Only issue is that the only options that would arrive in time are a HKS Type R intercooler or generic Ebay spec intercoolers comparable to a JustJap one. Ideally I'd order a Plazmaman but it takes over a month to receive which would mean making the car legal has to wait until next season. Would love to hear some input on this. Same story for my injectors, the previous owner was a nunce and put ID 1050x on the engine. They work but are obviously not ideal at "normal" power levels. But I don't see a reason to change them unless the tuner says it's necessary. I read online before buying a different exhaust that the top secret style rear diffusers won't fit due to the size of the rear resonators. My buddy and I made it work by slightly "adjusting the shape" of the mounting bracket and making some spacers out of 3d print for the mounting bolts. Fits like a charm. Just putting this here in case someone has this problem. Even the hefty HKS Silent Hi Power rear can fits without hitting anything.
    • Well they got my money but they are not getting my gearbox !
    • It's needed for rolling idle up, and I think it is a decider on VCT also.
    • I mean, not really. Link ECU's can absolutely still have errors from the ECU thinking it's getting a sensor it's not expecting. I would imagine the speed at the ECU level in Nistune does absolutely nothing anyway? I assume the ECU does not do any fancy TC stuff with regards to front+rear wheel speed or anything of that like anyway. Someone who uses Nistune may be more fluent in it.
