Hey guys,

I have a cruise coming soon. I am just waiting for confirmed dates on my car as to how soon it will be happening. As soon as I know, the weekend after my car gets here will be the cruise date. It may be short notice, and probably quite impromptu, but it will be happening.

After that, the car club I am in (Monkey Chow Racing) will be having monthly cruises. Once we start the events, people will cotton on... we have a lot of people wanting to join at the moment...

It has been a long time coming, Young GTR, but rest assured it is coming.

As to September, I am getting married then, and the week before will be a huge cruise. I will be getting together with a premier Targa Tasmania navigator to organise an itinerary. He actually writes the rally notes for Targa Tas, so it will be a good drive. The itinerary will allow people who work know where we are, and join when they can. I will get this together in the next few weeks, and anybody who asks will be able to grab a copy of this itinerary.

So, if anybody from Tas (or abroad) wants to get in contact with me, email me at [email protected]....

Cheers

:P

Monkey Chow Racing is based in Launceston guys. We are going to be setting up monthly events, barbecues, cruises etc. There will also be a monthly newsletter. Registration is $35, and you get the free newsletter, a HUGE sticker and also a membership card which will get you discounts with my business (10% off everything except cars) and more in store.....

It will be good, as we have huge plans for the club (dedicated car shows, mainland trips etc)

So, email me if you want further info.....

thanks guys,

Slaz.

Hi, we have about seven in the club atm. Not many I know, but the club is in it's infancy. We are having a board meeting this week, and then a general meeting next week, in which we will be more focused on our direction with the club.

I sell import cars, bodykits, turbos, steering wheels, accessories, anuthing to do with cars really....

If I can help out with anything, just contact me.:P

Well I do need to find a buyer for my car, know of anyone up there interested in a 1990 Aussie Skyline GTS2 (red with white wheels)???

I want an R31 GTS-X or possibly a passage turbo. Looking at a few, but have to sell my baby first.

  • 2 weeks later...

Not yet dude.

Car was picked up in Brisbane today, so only have to wait until next wednesday!!!! I have been waiting since 1st February for a car, and now the wait is OVER!

Anywho, the Silvia that I was importing for a friend is a bit of a beast. Talk of the town at the moment. So, I will be cruising down next weekend. Any suggestions when and where? I don't know how many people will be going, but we shall see.

Oh, no news yet about your car? I am drawing a blank up here, so no help yet, but I will keep trying. Have you considered putting it in the private classifieds here on Skylines Australia?

Keep in touch,

Slaz.

yeah I tried in the private section.

I have decided to keep the car cos I love it so much, all it really needs is power, so I will save for the turbo conversion.

I will either put in a VL turbo motor, an R33 25t motor or work on the 3L block and attach the 25t head, making it the RB30DET. Any suggestions?

    • This looks great! Awesome to have the 5 speed with an LSD in this. The Recaro's look like SR2's or SR3's. It's a shame they've been retrimmed as they would have looked sweet in their original colours. I think I'd want my agent to be a little more up front and informative too. I've never imported but I reckon it would make me a little nervous, so the more info the better.
    • Thanks for doing that Duncan! Makes you a good person in my books. We don't get kangaroos or wombats here. But we have bats and it's similar. AFAIK it's often the mums with a baby attached that get hit because they drop lower when starting from a tree. If you hit an animal, check on it. https://www.ifaw.org/au/resources/wildlife-rescue-app An app to get the closest wildlife rescue contact.
    • My dream is also to have a proper hoist, but I don't think it will ever happen. My quickjack is probably as close as I'll ever get, it really is very good though.
    • Yeah we keep on in the dailies, it is pretty poor how many animals get hit and the driver leaves without checking....have saved a couple of little ones over the years. Bit of a gruesome job though, pouches generally need to be cut open because they are so tight and often the joey doesn't realise mum is gone so they are still locked onto the teat. I checked the modules in front of the DS wheel where an oil cooler should go.... There is the radar unit - that can go for race use) One of the 2 HX water pumps, the silver cylinder. That needs to be kept but might be able to be relocated But the bad news, the big computer mounted vertically in front of the wheel (blocking any potential air exit) is the electric steering computer. That is required until/unless i do a hydraulic steering conversion, and in CAD based modern car design it is not like I can just pop a big unit like that somewhere else (plus the loom would be too short anywhere else too). So, the passenger side is OK to clear out (just use a smaller washer reservoir, potentially elsewhere), but the DS no beuno
    • Well, all the best with the new camry It was interesting to hear about the UK process, it is generally a lot more streamlined here with a shipping agent looking after all the import side (noting the exact final price can still be a surprise.....) and I've used a few different brokers on the japan (or US) side, and never had any trouble with any of them....luck of the draw I guess. You mentioned you didn't get the auction sheet (understandable since you bought it from a dealer, not auction), but I always try and get hold of that because they are pretty thorough. I've imported 2x R grade vehicles over the years and both were fine, repairs in Japan are pretty thorough compared to here in Oz.
