CONRAD
Hi, I have an OS Giken twin plate clutch, and when it takes up it makes a wierd 'bed spring' noise - like a wire straining. The clutch is definately not slipping.. does anyone know what this is or how to fix it it!? siksII
does it squeek when u push the clutch in too? then its most probably the master cylinder, have a friend watch/listen outside the car focusing on the master cylinder while u press the clutch and thats probably it. wilch
I've got the same noise. It's annoying the crap out of me. Everyone says thrust bearing... But I don't think it is. Mine makes the noise even when the engine is OFF. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/57931-clutch-noise/#findComment-1115210 Share on other sites
Burto
Hey, I've got an ORC twin plate clutch (which i think is very similar to the OS Giken, need an adaptor kit to convert from push to pull, right?) A mate of mine has one in as well, as did meshmesh on the forums. All three of those cars make a similar noise to what you're describing. Its a whiny sort of noise that is only there when you're using the clutch? If so its normal, people think the thrust bearing is about to die and laugh at you. The guy my mate bought his GTR off spent money trying to get it "fixed" to no avail, maybe made it a little less noticeable. Mine makes the noise even when the engine is OFF. mine made the noise when my engine was off also. and the clutch was only 2 months old. 3R1K
I got my ORC twin plate , after about 3000 km or maybe after it wore in, it makes the same noise everytime when i release it, so I'm guessing it's a normal noise from twin plate? MANWHORE
ok, twin plates normally make a rattling noise. Is that what you're talking about? that is, when you leave the clutch in. That is the two plates tapping against each other. In regards to the squeak, Mine used to squeek before, It was as simple as a squeeky pedal. hehehe, I thought it was the thrust bearing too. That is, until my mechanic took a can of lub and sprayed it inside the car, on the pivot. Fixed.
