4th gear crunches???

Hi i purchased my r33 recently and for sum reason i have to put it in 4th gear slowly otherwise it will crunch. I mean really slowly, does anybody know wat the problem would be (synchros)?

yes its the synchros

common problem with skylines dont let it worry you too much

try changing the gearbox oil, and if you are really desperate to fix it put in redline oil which costs about 3 times as much as most other stuff but seems to work (stopped crunching for me)

redline lightweight shockproof = $120 for 4 litres

p.s. probably nothing to do with synchros, everybody blames them. We have rebuilt a few gtr boxes and found the selector hubs wear causing the crunch not synchros. WHY DOES EVERYBODY BLAME SYNCHROS????

Hey on the topic does anyone know who does good skyline gearbox services in sydney?? I've got the same problem but in 3rd gear. Also my clutch is dying so im not sure if thats causing the problems or if it just needs servicing.

because most people dont know what selector hubs are, but we have all heard of synchros and what their purpose is, therefore if a gear doesnt engage smoothly, then, IS GOTTA BE DA SYNCHROS MATE!!!!
