Here is some info I have on the Cefiros. Some even came with RB25DET goodness. 4WD was RB20DET.

8809 - 9008 - RB20DET 2WD

9008 - unknown - RB20DET 4WD

9206 - unknown - RB25DE 2WD

More Pictures like the one below can be found at http://www.innaloo.net/~jai/cefiro/fast/

Thanks for the info mate.

Ok, now the question is,..is it possible to fit all the R32 GTR Drivetrain into an A31(RWD) chassis?

From my understanding the A31's front suspension is McPherson type and the GTR is multi-link,which means they have different suspension pick up points hence a different crossmember.

I may be wrong so feel free to correct me.

The AWD ceffies are the floowing:

Nissan Cefiro 2.0 ATESSA Cruise Model released August, 1990

Nissan Cefiro 2.0 ATESSA Cruise Model released August, 1991

Nissan Cefiro 2.0 SE-4 Model release May, 1992

The SE-4's sucky as, wheras the ATESSA Cruise are the puppies you wanna get.

you'll have to replace all the sensors with proper GTR ones, fit some hicas equipment as most ceffies didn't come with hicas (was only an option). other than that, the ATESSA system in the A31 is very similar to the one in the GTS4, not the GTR's ATESSA. net result the car feels bulky and is less maneuvreble than a RWD car, or a GTR.

Novel idea tho.

i'd say its very similar to making a GTS4 into a GTR. in other words, waste of time n money. keep it RWD and make it more fun. If you really need to spend your money that badly on a GTR with 4 doors, buy a 260RS. It runs a similar setup to what a GTR-Spec ATESSA AWD Cefiro will be like, out of the box. SHould end up costing around the same too.

From where I come from(East Malaysia), the A31 is the only car that is still readily available.Hardly if not never, heard of the 260RS..hehehe... Furthermore, I know most of you dudes here use the A31 for drifting but I'd like a sleeper with an RB26 and 4WD in it(straight line beast). As for the 4WD system, I think I'd forget about all the wiring hassle and opt for the Veilside or APEXi torque split controller...unsure how much they cost though.

Speaking about cost, I can keep the labour rates low as I deal with many workshops almost everyday who can give me good deals.Furthermore, I do have my own mini workshop at my backyard(my dad's also an enthusiast).

If I see a huge possibility of converting the A31 into an RB26DETT/4WD beast, I'll set aside some $$ for it to happen sometime soon. What's holding me back is the modifications to the chassis that is needed to fit the gearbox/ATTESSA system(wider) as well as the front suspension and front subframe/crossmember to clear the moving parts..

FYI, the A31's price over here stays at around AUD 15k. How much is it over there?

hehe I'm supposed to be in malaysia right now holidayin in KL... anyways... the cefiros in KL are all the RB24S carby versions arent they? I think I saw a few N/A RB20 ones but most of the souped up ones had 1JZ's in them. The Malay ceffies are a bit different to the Jap ones in that the brakes and suspension are a lil different.

An A31 landed and registered in australia can cost anywhere between 12kish for a good clean stock or mildly modified automatic (like the one my dad drives), about 9k for a used and abused drift pig, or a purposely built full tuning house car like inark RB26 ceffy (built by Ken Works as a drift "practice car") will cost you in excess of 16k without compliance and registration which should tip it at about 20k all up.

    • Not sure the US can import anything other than the C34 Stagea's, but if you can and you need to to tow, DO NOT under any circumstances get an M35 Stagea. If it is just as a family car and your country/state allows it, absolutely and definitely get an M35 (3.5L if possible as it is effectively a 350Z) over a C34.

    • Thanks for that, I'll check it all out. I can always do the brakes last anyway if its a problem.  The 16's are super cool, if they do fit I'll cruise around with them for a bit.
    • Well, that's kinda the point. The calipers might interfere with the inside of the barrels 16" rims are only about 14" inside the barrels, which is ~350mm, and 334mm rotors only leave about 8mm outboard for the caliper before you get to 350, And.... that;s not gunna be enough. If the rims have a larger ID than that, you might sneak it in. I'd be putting a measuring stick inside the wheel and eyeballing the extra required for the caliper outboard of the rotor before committing to bolting it all on.
