Automatic Transmission Shift Kit. - Updated Oct 2006

HAHAHAHA yeah that seems about right. What I did was put a drop sheet on the floor and had about 6 saturday papers spread outso it was nice and thick to absorb anything. Nothing to stop it dripping and running down your arms though.

I ended up using 7.5 - 8 liters of HiTemp.

Adam - I have a full unopened canister left over so if you decide to go with HiTemp you can do me a favour and get it of me. :P Let me know.

I've got about 3/4 of one left over from last time. How many litres are in a container again? I know it's measured in Gallons but I can't remember how many of them either.

Also waiting to decide about Racing ATF. Might mix them. I know you can do this.

At any rate, I may just help you out ned. Will let you know in the next week.

i just used 2 skyline jacks on wood with a hydraulic jack on the diff to raise the car prob 50cm off the ground

its not that hard to do if you got a good brain :(

Wow. Mine looks quite different to yours but I guess that in terms of unbolting things it's similar. Most of my photos turned out crap. Either too much light or not enough. Very annoying.

This is the only decent one I got and it's of the top of the valvebody so you can't really tell the differences I'm talking about.

It looks like the scene of a murder.

Well I'll never know exactly what the vb will have given me because I am putting in a new turbo at the same time. If I could have I would have done them separately.

Ok the kit is in and it works fine.

Basically the bolts you need to remove to get the thing out are all around the outside. If you look up near the gear shift lever mechanism you'll see that there are about 3 that don't need to be removed.

Also, you'll need to remove the sensors and stuff which I think will take care of the few bolts that are not around the outside that hold it up.

Mike told me there were about 7 bolts holding it up but there are more like about 15-20.

The welsh plugs that you put in go in the middle two holes of the four. I sanded them ever so lightly with 1200 grit sandpaper because I couldn't for the life of me get them in otherwise.

Three springs come out but only one goes back in. It's the lightest (ie easiest to compress).

I needed the jack to compress the spring enough to get the valvebody back in.

Use some longer bolts in the shorter bolt holes to get some bite and get at least 4 or 5 in before you start ratchetting them up because you don't want to strip threads.

I wrote down a little map with the numbers that are on the bolts on it but that didn't take into consideration the fact that there are 3 different lengths of the ones labelled '7'.

It's not a big drama in the end which bolts you use because when you have most of them in you can tell that some are too long so you swap it with others one by one.

Overall it was very time consuming because there are shitloads of bolts and they are many different lengths.

Ok how does it drive?

It is less likely to creep forward if you let off the brake at idle. More likely to roll backwards a little down a hill without brake.

1st to 2nd jumps in quite firmly now. Noticeable but not uncomfortable at low speeds. I am yet to redline it to see if it chirps but been close although I have semi slicks on at the moment. This is the most improved area I think.

2nd to 3rd firmer but still fairly smooth. Not as firm as 1st to 2nd.

3rd to 2nd, very firm.

3rd to 4th, much better at high speed, no firmness but still quicker at street speeds. Changing from 3rd to 4th at about 180km/h it securely and immediately went into gear whereas before it would take almost 2 seconds to slide in.

I dont get chirping, and damn well i shouldnt with full handling and camber kit plus falken semi slicks

from first to second does straife the tail out in a straight line if running higher boost and from standing start

although after having my car tuned i took the exhaust from the frontpipe back off for some testing and gasket replacement and wow was it fast! Flooring it in 2nd going about 60, car just kicks back and powerslides for about 15m

so i currently have the entire exhaust off for a revamp :rofl:

    • Pressure when IDLING, is meant to be 51PSi... So that amperage value needs to go up a fair chunk... I'd personally be factoring for more like 12amp at least on those runs, and at that point you need to hope the already there wiring doesn't drop you a volt or two, as that's a lot of fuel pressure flow drop off from 13.5 to 12V! Taking idle pressure of 51psi, means the pump will be drawing a MINIMUM of 9amps all the time based on your reading of the graph (3bar base, then allowing an extra 0.5bar for boost = roughly 51psi)
    • Hi all,  I am in the market for an R200 longnose diff out of a Z31 300ZX, or S12 RSX, DR30 skyline, or similar, in a 3.9 ratio.  Preferably a late model one with the M12 crownwheel bolts.  The only easy to find advert for one of these was my ad back in 2007 when I sold it on this forum.  I sold the diff as I had sold the car it goes to, but as it turns out, after 18 years I got the car back late last year, so now I'm looking for the diff !  If anyone knows where to find a longnose R200 LSD with the M12 crownwheel bolts, drop me a line at [email protected] - Bonus paid if soomeone comes up with the original diff (stranger things have happened !).  Cheers   Ben D    
    • Hi everyone, I used to post here a bit from 2004-2013, when I owned various Nissans, in particular my S12 RSX gazelle, which was sold in 2007.  As luck would have it, after an 18 year hiatus, the car found its way back to me last year, and over the past 11 months I have had the pleasure of restoring it with my kids.  One thing that I am after in particular is a 3.9 ratio R200 LSD for it.  I actually sold the one out of the car here back in 2007 , and it would be incredible if I could track down who I sold it to, so I can see how they have progressed over the years (and to be honest, to see whether I can get the diff back !).  Anyways, hi all and let me know "where are the R200 Longnose diffs all at these days ?  Cheers Ben D  
    • Arms will be the same as the G35 or 350Z, but as above, there was a change in the lower control arm where it connects to the ball joint.  That said, you can remove the ball joint cone from your old ball joints and fit them to the new ball joints.  To be honest, I didn't think the ball joints themselves were different. The main ball joint is a bit awkward to replace, you really need to remove the steering knuckle to press out the old one.  Some people have used tools to remove it in place, but it just seemed too hard to get to. If you are going to press out/in that ball joint, then you may as well just replace the bushings in the LCA and the compression rod.  You can buy the compression rod bushing from Nissan, but the LCA bushes, you will need to go aftermarket. Much cheaper than buying the whole arm.
    • Ha, well, it's been.... a bit of a journey. Things have taken much longer than I'd hoped. I'll probably put up a thread at some stage. Hopefully soon. The car's not done any kms since my update in June though, put it that way.
