i just heard from the cops about my car-jacking that happened when someone stole my R33 and wrote it off!!

apparently they have enough evidence to charge one of the people involved, which i thought, yay about time, only to be told,"we cant charge him because he is under a witness protection act on another case" !!!!! that is f**ked, so what that virtually means is that this guy can can keep doing things wrong, cause he is "under protection", dont our laws suck! and this also means that i dont get back my no-claim bonus, i had 60%, cause you only get it back if they make a prosecution...

and the police wonder why people take the law into their own hands, when people can get away with things like that, no wonder our crime rate is stuffed!!!! :headshot:

wait a minute.. I'm sure if you explained all this, and got a formal letter from the police stating the situation then the insurance company would have to take this in board hey ?

it's worth an enquiry if it saves you a few $k on insurance.

that sucks still dude...

I don't think it is the police force so much as the farked up system that they work for. Who would like the idea of seeing decent people getting screwed over by scum? They are probably just as pissed as the next bloke (except the poor bugger having his ride boosted), however they have to deal with these types of dicks all day long.

Doesn't help you much R33_CAM, sounds like you are really getting the short end. Seems a bit bizzare though that if someone steals your car, you loose your no claim bonus, 'cause if you only have 3rd party fire and theft there is no 'no claim bonus' and you are still covered for replacement or damage as a result of theft.

Ultimately, the current legal system which seems to look after the minority and screw the average bloke - sucks

r33 cam... if that guy really cared about not having his identity revealed he wouldnt have had commited any crimes.. especially something major eg. stealing your car and crashing it.

this guy should reap the seeds he sows. if he does something stupid he should expect some repercusions.

there is no way in hell that i;d let something like this screw my no claim bonus. (i have a potty mouth) id be pissed.

im not sure how all the insurance thing works, but i have fully comprehensive, and apparently they cant give your no claim back till someone is charged, dont ask me how that works, i thought u only lost it if it was your fault, and it certainly wasn't, but apparently they need someone to blame.

i probably should have worded the topic different, cause i know cops probably try to do the best they can in these cases, but the f**ked up law system holds them back.

john:

the impression i got off the cops was, or what the cop said to me was " he is under witness protection on another case so he cant be touched, so we have no alternative to close the case" ie: case closed no one gets charged, seems ridiculous to me.

Puckish, I am definately not a cop, you wouldn't get me doing that job for quids, there are much easier ways of making a living than copping abuse of dick heads all day every day. The only reason I say this is because I have had a couple of mates that were cops and guess what they were just average people but over a period of time they turned into very sinical ones - busting people, getting abused, spat on, rocks bottle etc thrown at them - they get to see the real crap that exists out there. And low and behold when they get the multiple offending underage ethnically diverse misunderstood gentleman or lady into court - the magistrate says 'mmm, this is only your 10th offence, you deserve another chance, we want to rehabilitate you - take a community order and if its too hard to fulfill, dont worry we wont really care'

I have also been on the wrong side of the law when I was 17, 18 and 19 - related to recreational smoking of the wrong type and the cops that busted me were almost appologetic, and I always got a lift home. I had a car stolen by an underage multiple offending ethnically diverse member of the community, the cop even told me how sorry he was that there wasn't much that the legal system was going to do 'just another warning' if I remember correctly.

Also I work away, sometimes for months, and not long ago my wife was being stalked by a guy (later found to be on warants in 3 states for multiple counts of rape and home invasion) - the cops were awesome, gave my wife counselling, and when this dick did show his hand, they were on the scene in minutes

R33 CAM: it really sucks that your ride got boosted - I understand where you are coming from, its happened to me only I wasn't insured (a lesson learnt there).

There are good cops and there are some that should have moved on years ago, or even never got onto the street in the first place (usually the young ones- no discresion). Any bad experience will stay in your memory sooner than a good one but this place would be unbearable if there weren't cops at all

Sorry for going on, just pushed the wrong button I 'spose, just my 0.02 worth (mmm, perhaps even got out 0.04:p )

Having said all the above, I am sure there are quite a few people out there that would have good reason to be pissed off with the behaviour of certain coppers out there - there are some real dicks about in a uniform, alot of times when the criminal element gets the upper hand it isn't he fault of the police force in general

    • I guess one thing that might be wrong is the manifold pressure.  It is a constant -5.9 and never moves even under 100% throttle and load.  I would expect it to atleast go to 0 correct?  It's doing this with the OEM MAP as well as the ECU vacuum sensor. When trying to tune the base map under load the crosshairs only climb vertically with RPM, but always in the -5.9 column.
    • AHHHH gotchaa, I'll do that once I am home again. I tried doing the harness with the multimeter but it seems the car needed a jump, there was no power when it was in the "ON" position. Not sure if I should use car battery jump starter or if its because the stuff that has been disconnect the car just does send power.
    • As far as I can tell I have everything properly set in the Haltech software for engine size, injector data, all sensors seem to be reporting proper numbers.  If I change any injector details it doesnt run right.    Changing the base map is having the biggest change in response, im not sure how people are saying it doesnt really matter.  I'm guessing under normal conditions the ECU is able to self adjust and keep everything smooth.   Right now my best performance is happening by lowering the base map just enough to where the ECU us doing short term cut of about 45% to reach the target Lambda of 14.7.  That way when I start putting load on it still has high enough fuel map to not be so lean.  After 2500 rpm I raised the base map to what would be really rich at no load, but still helps with the lean spots on load.  I figure I don't have much reason to be above 2500rpm with no load.  When watching other videos it seems their target is reached much faster than mine.  Mine takes forever to adjust and reach the target. My next few days will be spent making sure timing is good, it was running fine before doing the ECU and DBW swap, but want to verify.  I'll also probably swap in the new injectors I bought as well as a walbro 255 pump.
    • It would be different if the sealant hadn't started to peel up with gaps in the glue about ~6cm and bigger in some areas. I would much prefer not having to do the work take them off the car . However, the filler the owner put in the roof rack mount cavities has shrunk and begun to crack on the rail delete panels. I cant trust that to hold off moisture ingress especially where I live. Not only that but I have faded paint on as well as on either side of these panels, so they would need to come off to give the roofline a proper respray. My goal is to get in there and put a healthy amount of epoxy instead of panel filler/bog and potentially skin with carbon fiber. I have 2 spare rolls from an old motorcycle fairing project from a few years back and I think it'd be a nice touch on a black stag.  I've seen some threads where people replace their roof rack delete with a welded in sheet metal part. But has anyone re-worked the roof rails themselves? It seems like there is a lot of volume there to add in some threads and maybe a keyway for a quick(er) release roof rack system. Not afraid to mill something out if I have to. It would be cool to have a cross bar only setup. That way I can keep the sleek roofline that would accept a couple bolts to gain back that extra utility  3D print some snazzy covers to hide the threaded section to be thorough and keep things covered when not using the rack.
    • Probably not. A workshop grade scantool is my go to for proper Consult interrogation. Any workshop grade tool should do it. Just go to a workshop.
