er34
hi all i was changing my springs and "accidentally" managed to stuff up one of the top bolts (in the parcel shelf).. now i cant get it out as its kinda nearly circular.. is there any way to remove the springs without taking out the entire shock? if not, what can i do to remove the bolt? thanks Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/64039-urgent-very-urgent/ Share on other sites
Yorik
Okay, get a file, a spanner and a hammer.. Insert genitals in vice and strike with hammer... Only kidding... :jk: Read on!! File two flat edges into the nut parrallel to one another, just the right size so that you have to get the spanner on my tapping in on with a hammer, it wll warp the nut a little and be a little awkward to get off, but it is probably already f**ked anyway.. am I right?? You will fo course need a replacement so take another one to a hradware store a get a few, you never know when you will need them.. :headspin: Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/64039-urgent-very-urgent/#findComment-1201888 Share on other sites

predator
what suspension have you got? your other alternative is to simply snap the whole stud off. The factory setup (and most aftermarkets) have a replacement stud that can be replaced through the strut top. MerlinTheHapyPig
another way, si to buy a socket that is slightly smaller (Eg bolt is 12mm from memory, get an 11mm socket). And bash it on with a hammer. Remember to spray heaps of WD40 on the bolt before you do it. always use a socket if you can of correct size to remove bolts, stops you from rounding them. Trust33
From memory i had a stuck strut nut tried all those methods.fileing, bashing on smaller size spanners and vice grips though this was a front strut but it is still the same pricinal. I ended up angle grinding into the nut till i could pry it off with pliers (in peices).Needless to say the nut and stud were *ucked.Just replace it with a newie. They cost nothing at all.
