I am just wondering if anyone else besides “japp_imports“, would mistake a standard R33 dump pipe for an exhaust header? Roughly 3 weeks ago now I created this thread specifying that I am after a “Standard Exhaust Header” to suit an R33 Skyline, more specifically an RB25DET.

Now just moments after this thread was posted the user that goes by the name “japp_imports” sent me a PM telling me he had a Standard Exhaust Header for sale. He then said that this part would cost me $50 + $20 for shipping OVER NIGHT. This sounded like a good deal to me so I went ahead and wired the money. This took place Monday, japp_imports confirmed that the payment was received and informed me that the part would be shipped out Tuesday morning and since I paid him for overnight shipment it should have arrived Wednesday. To cut a long and painful story short the part did not arrive until Tuesday (next week) and even then I had to go and fetch it from TNT.

When picking up the “Standard Exhaust Header” I noticed the packaged was about three times to small. Believe it or not the guy that calls himself “japp_imports” sent me the Standard R33 Dump Pipe. Okay so I have waited over a week for the wrong part and have had no car in this time. I was not about to get pissed off with japp_imports over this, despite it being his fault. Therefore I rang him and explained that he sent the wrong part.

Again cutting another long and painful story short Mr. “japp_imports” argued that what he had sent was the “Standard Exhaust Header”. I corrected him and explained that this was in fact a Dump Pipe and cannot be mistaken as a Header. He then tried to tell me this mistake was my fault. This didn’t go down well and I asked that he return my $70 in full and I would return the Dump Pipe. This would of course put me out of pocket as I would get my $70 back, but would have to then pay to ship the dump back.

Typically, japp_imports decided to screw me around some more and requested that I send the dump back and he will send just $50 of my money back. I don’t know how this scenario came about but its bull shit. Lets be honest $70 is nothing, well its $70 really. But that’s not the point, this guy fu$#*ed me around for over a week and now he wont give me my money back despite being such an insignificant amount.

Anyway, I just want to know what someone else thinks ... is an Exhaust Header a Dump Pipe?

They are the same thing yeah? Header, Manifold, Extractor? I believed “Manifold” to be more of a generalization such as Throttle Body Manifold and so on. Question was however can an Exhaust Header be confused with a Dump Pipe?

There is no such thing as a throttle body manifold (I think you mean the intake manifold).

I guess it could have been a misunderstanding, if it was me however i would have understood it to be the exhaust manifold

Yeah sorry that’s what I meant, anyway point is I was sent the wrong thing and that’s not really a big deal. However, the guy that sent the wrong thing and made the mistake is unwilling to take it back!

I reckon just cut your losses and just get $50. i think it was just a misunderstanding (you weren't clear enough maybe) maybe just tell him to pay half the postage or something. good luck

Yahoo seems to know what a header is ... just spoke to a guy in the know and he says the real name is HEADER, exhaust manifold is another word to describe it. However, Header is used to distinguish it from an inlet manifold!

I understand what you are talking about, and I'm just a mechanic (oh and a mechanical engineer) so maybe he's a bit of a dunce. There is no way to confuse header with dump.

Anyway, I have a standard manifold as I just did a twin turbo upgrade with Snowies GTR34 turbs so feel free to make me an offer, and you are welcome to come to pick up.

For now I have notified the admins.

japp_imports seems to be logging onto the forums, he just wont reply to my PM messages.

Your a real drama queen! I described the part to you and clearly asked you if you wanted it with or without the OXYGEN SENSOR. I sent you what I described to you over the phone. Regarding the delay in shipment put your complaint in writing and forward it to TNT!

I have offered you a refund for the $50 I charged you for the part and the offer still stands. The $50 will be deposited to your account the second the part is received. Please understand I CANNOT refund you $20 for shipping as the $20 went to TNT not my pocket.

Also add EXHAUST MANIFOLD to your vocabulary!

Caution! to all out there on SAU if trading with this person ask him for a picture to confirm what he is after as he clearly has no idea!

If I am a drama queen you are an out right liar and on top of that you’re not the brightest. “I sent you what I described to you over the phone”, I only rang you once I found out that you sent the wrong part. Don’t give me that “OXYGEN SENSOR” bull shit again, I asked for the Header, you send the Dump Pipe, that’s just stupid. I should get the $70 back in full and I will send the dump pipe back. Either way I will be the one out of pocket and furthermore had no car for 2 weeks.

I will add EXHAUST MANIFOLD to my vocabulary, if you work out the different between a DUMP PIPE and an EXHAUST MANIFOLD for me :) LOL

Okay “japp_imports” just rang me tonight at midnight to threaten me I believe. He tells me that if I do not let everyone know that this problem has been resolved he will fly down to Melbourne and pay me a little visit. I tried to tell him that he owes me $70 and I owe him a standard dump pipe but he wouldn’t listen. Then he tells me that he will refund just $50. I said okay give me $50 back; he then says I have to ship the dump pipe back to him which will cost $20. Therefore I am only getting $30 back, he then says $50 is nothing to him and it’s just the principal of the thing.

I tell him the problem is not resolved and then he threatens again that he will come and visit me, I was not phased by this. He then says what he sent me is a header and not a dump pipe. He says the mistake was a 50/50 thing, nothing he said made much sense. The problem is NOT resolved and now it looks like I will have to involve the Police.

I told “japp_imports” that it makes the most sense to reverse the transaction, is this not unreasonable. I asked for a header, I got a dump pipe, I paid $50 for the dump plus $20 for shipping, all of which was wired to japp_imports account. Now I want my $70 back and I will spend $20 of it getting the dump back to japp_imports which will leave me $20 out of pocket.

This is a joke and “japp_imports” is positive that a dump pipe is a header. I told him not even Yahoo is that stupid and he said he didn’t care. I also told him we could do a poll in the forums asking if a dump is a header and he said he didn’t care. Bottom line is he knows he is wrong and how he is trying to scare me to resolve the issue in a way that will suit him. If you want “japp_imports” fly down and we can have a chat, I can even book you in at the local Police station.

I have offered you over and over a full refund for the purchase price ($50) of the part on its return! Also the standard exhaust manifold has been packed ready for shipping for the past week since you called me saying you have recieved the wrong part. I am not a shop and cannot afford to pay for your frieght costs!

    • Hi, is the HKS  Tower Bar still available ? negotiable ? 🤔
    • From there, it is really just test and assemble. Plug the adapter cables from the unit into the back of the screen, then the other side to the car harness. Don't forget all the other plugs too! Run the cables behind the unit and screw it back into place (4 screws) and you should now have 3 cables to run from the top screen to the android unit. I ran them along the DS of the other AV units in the gap between their backets and the console, and used some corrugated tubing on the sharp edges of the bracket so the wires were safe. Plug the centre console and lower screen in temporarily and turn the car to ACC, the AV should fire up as normal. Hold the back button for 3 sec and Android should appear on the top screen. You need to set the input to Aux for audio (more on that later). I put the unit under the AC duct in the centre console, with the wifi antenna on top of the AC duct near the shifter, the bluetooth antenna on the AC duct under the centre console The GPS unit on top of the DS to AC duct; they all seem to work OK there are are out of the way. Neat cable routing is a pain. For the drive recorder I mounted it near the rear view mirror and run the cable in the headlining, across the a pillar and then down the inside of the a pillar seal to the DS lower dash. From there it goes across and to one USB input for the unit. The second USB input is attached to the ECUtec OBD dongle and the 3rd goes to the USB bulkhead connected I added in the centre console. This is how the centre console looks "tidied" up Note I didn't install the provided speaker, didn't use the 2.5mm IPod in line or the piggyback loom for the Ipod or change any DIP switches; they seem to only be required if you need to use the Ipod input rather than the AUX input. That's it, install done, I'll follow up with a separate post on how the unit works, but in summary it retains all factory functions and inputs (so I still use my phone to the car for calls), reverse still works like factory etc.
    • Place the new daughterboard in the case and mount it using the 3 small black rivets provided, and reconnect the 3 factory ribbon cables to the new board Then, use the 3 piggyback cables from the daughterboard into the factory board on top (there are stand offs in the case to keep them apart. and remember to reconnect the antenna and rear cover fan wires. 1 screw to hold the motherboard in place. Before closing the case, make a hole in the sticker covering a hole in the case and run the cable for the android unit into the plug there. The video forgot this step, so did I, so will you probably. Then redo the 4 screws on back, 2 each top and bottom, 3 each side and put the 2 brackets back on.....all ready to go and not that tricky really.
    • Onto the android unit. You need to remove the top screen because there is a daughterboard to put inside the case. Each side vent pops out from clips; start at the bottom and carefully remove upwards (use a trim remover tool to avoid breaking anything). Then the lower screen and controls come out, 4 screws, a couple of clips (including 3 flimsy ones at the top) and 3 plugs on the rear. Then the upper screen, 4 screws and a bunch of plugs and she is out. From there, remove the mounting brackets (2 screws each), 4 screws on the rear, 2 screws top and bottom and 3 screws holding in the small plates on each side. When you remove the back cover (tight fit), watch out for the power cable for the fan, I removed it so I could put the back aside. The mainboard is held in by 1 screw in the middle, 1 aerial at the top and 3 ribbon cables. If you've ever done any laptop stuff the ribbon cables are OK to work with, just pop up the retainer and they slide out. If you are not familiar just grab a 12 year old from an iphone factory, they will know how it works The case should now look like this:
    • Switching the console was tricky. First there were 6 screws to remove, and also the little adapter loom and its screws had to come out. Also don't forget to remove the 2 screws holding the central locking receiver. Then there are 4 clips on either side....these were very tight in this case and needed careful persuading with a long flat screw driver....some force required but not enough to break them...this was probably the fiddliest part of the whole job. In my case I needed both the wiring loom and the central locking receiver module to swap across to the new one. That was it for the console, so "assembly is the reverse of disassembly"
