hey guys - your help on this would be very much appreciated..

i just replaced the clutch on my R32 to a exedy extra heavy duty organic clutch.. however when the mechanic fitted it on he also told me that the clutch master cylinder & slave cylinder needs to be replaced. there is a slight leak above the clutch pedal and when the clutch is engaged to change gears while the car is started it doesnt go in smoothly at all, u realy need to crunch the gear stick to push it into gear....

i suppose im wanting to get an idea whether this has happened to anyone else when they replaced their clutch... also do u guys have a general idea on how much a master & slave cylinder will cost. the mechanic says that it shudnt be any more dat $200 or so... is he ripping me off or what?

when he changed the clutch he also changed the rear main seal, machined the fly wheel... now he is sayin that i also need these 2 things. if you guys have a rough idea on prices this would be very very much appreciated...

yes u have to machine the flywheel

yes u have to replace the rear main seal, unless u want to pull it out again when it leaks

200 is a excellent price for new master and slave cylinders, and still a good price to get your existing ones recoed (including the new clutch fluid)

yep i had this same problem. for $200 they are probably reconditioning your master/slave cylinders - which means they will replace the seals, and if needed resleeve the bore with a new stainless steel sleeve.

The problem you will be experiencing is when you put the clutch pedal down fully, that you will have trouble getting in and out of gears, this is due to the fault with the hydraulic system (a master cylinder or slave cylinder problem or both) meaning that the clutch cannot be dissengaged properly.

and yes $200 is good, i paid $130 for just master cylinder reconditioning, fitting then new hydraulic fluid.

I gave it a try myself, to be honest with you for $200 go and get it done by the mechanic, the master cylinder is a bit of a bitch to remove if you dont have the right tools.

      I can see between the water jacket and cyl 3 there wasn't a hard line of combustion gas. It certainly appears that the issue is coming from there. Yes, checked the tension. All at 100ft lbs where I set them 5 years ago. These blocks can crack but generally when they have been over bored. Mine is only 0.5mm oversize at 89.5mm. They break between cylinders around the 91mm mark. No sign of that with mine. My gut feeling is the head gasket lifted a while back when the studs stretched and i bandaided it by retorquing the studs. It's finally let go.

      My Nismo 1.5 churps a bit on reverse turns when cold, but besides that feels like a stock diff.

      So, version 4 intake is on its way I was looking at these a while ago but at around $200 or more it was a little pricey for something that might not work, but, I had it in my watch list, but, I got a message saying it was on special, and I had a code thingie to use, it eventually came in at $120 delivered, so BAM, BUY NOW.....LOL I'll need to have a look when it arrives but I feel it will "look" better than what I currently have, as it comes with a PCV fitting, so I will be able to get rid of the alloy pipe that goes to the throttle body with the PCV fitting  Well, that's what the voices in my head are telling me  Oh, and this happened today Yeap, it was a Trojan, and it was cheap, so I headed back to the hardware store and actually spent a little bit more on a heavy duty,  one that was actually recommended by a plumber mate, a Cyclone one with a fibreglass handle that is actually rated for clay The broken shovel will eventually be "modified" into a short handle shovel
