Hi daniel, can i trouble you for your opinion??

How much horsepower/kilowatts do you want? suitable up to 230rwkw

What are you using the car for? street / drag / track. Reliability is a big issue (i use my line to drive all over sth est qld for work)

When do you want boost roughly? eg. 2200/2500 would be ideal but not run out of flow before 6000 minimum

Do you want power early or late in the rev range? - bit of both if thats possible.

What Mods you engine has or is going to have including computers or exhaust etc.?

3.5in turboback exhaust, r34gtt cooler, power fc (to come), walbro pump (to come)

Obviously, what car? 94 series 1 r33, manual.

Intercooled? and is it large, small, medium? see above (r34 cooler)

Still running AFM or upgraded or no longer there? stock / z32 one at later stage

Custom exhaust manifold or standard? standard - willing to go adaptor or custom manifold depending on whats cheaper/ easier

External wastegate or internal(limited to virtually 450hp)? internal

Could you give me some recommendations?

Also, what would be the approx cost all up?? (braided lines, external manifold/adapter if necessary and rough cost of a workshop to do labor).

ideally my budget would be less than 2500 installed.

Hope you can help with some info :P

It is very hard to retain such an early boost and still achieve high results. It sounds as though you are aiming for a highflow. I'm not too sure that th 34 cooler will do you any favours at 230rwkw but it should be ok. The higflows typically come on boost around 2800 and hold past 7000....you can expect to see full boost around the 3500 mark. The R33 highflow is reliable to approx 380-400hp so it will be the best package to do what you want it for. You won't need to change any of the lines or hoses...it will all just bolt straight back on in place.

Highflow is still $1800 depending on condition. Meaning it could go down to $1750 or up to $1850...but usually they stay at $1800. I charge $200 to remove and refit the turbo as long as you are in Brisbane somewhere.

There are other options with adapting a turbo to fit but the costs are usually not represented in the overall result compared to a highflow. For $2100 I can graft the exhaust housing of your turbo to the back of a GT30R which will still net you fairly early boost figures, you get the twin ball bearing cartridge as well. This would cost another $150-$200 in braid lines and roughly another $200 in intake modifications. Not the right setup for you though.

Hope I haven't confused you at all....just PM me if you have any other questions. or email at [email protected]

no wasn't looking to get 230rwkw just wanted the turbo to support around that much as a minimum. Once i wound the boost above say 15psi i would definatley change coolers,

anyway pm sent :P (actually pm sending..)

My RB20 Hiflow was capable of that horsepower figure.

At 17 PSI I put out 218 RWKW.

That 300 hp is roughly what they are rated to when hiflowed. It doesn't mean they are not capable of 450hp it just means they usually only last 12 months like that.

With your other question, the same turbo I am putting on mine would be a bolt on. It's a ball bearing turbo and rated at 450hp. usually 50hp higher can still be achieved SAFELY though. Plus being a BB turbo it will spool hell quick and will outlast a highflow RB25 turbo anyday, and for roughly the same price maybe a couple hundred more.

which turbo are you putting on?

Umm, that was a while ago now.

I ended up going for the GT2876R but altered the stock manifold to suit it, relocated the AFM and re-did some of the intake plus braided lines....all in all wasn't too much of a drama. The hardest part was adapting the T3 dump to the T25 housing.

How much are they going for and how much do you think it would cost to get a mech to do what you did(Im in vic so couldnt get you to do it)

    • I've heard the Tomei USA head gaskets are decent if you want to o-ring the heads but otherwise not recommended.
    • The 296mm rotors are the R33 turbo brakes. The 310mm rotors are the R34 turbo brakes. The calipers are nearly the same, but not. They're the same caliper but the R34 caliper has longer legs so that it sits out far enough to go over the rotor. The pads are the same for both. When you say, "I bough tsome EBC"....did you just mean pads? Or rotors? 310mm rotors fit under 17" wheels. There may be some wheels without enough clearance though. I can't fit my fingers between the barrel of my wheel and the "corners" of my R34 calipers, but there is plenty of room behind the spokes. This is on Enkei RPF1. You can fit 324mm rotors inside a 17" wheel, but I'd be willing to bet that it would be close to impossible with the Nissan/Sumitomo caliper (using an adapter, of course), because the Sumitomo caliper is fatter than the Brembo caliper that is supposed to go on the 324mm rotors.
    • Hi. Can someone tell me what brakes(and mainly WHERE) can i buy brakes on R34 GTT? I bought some EBC which SHOULD go on my car(i have GT but it has GTT brakes) but it does not fit, Brakes are "too" small(296mm) Are 310mm be good or? I have 17 inch wheel so no "big boys" but for me driving i just need one that fits and i can get here in EU/Czech.
    • Since winter isn't that harsh anymore in Poland, i will definetely drive it 365 days a year 😉. But if the snow hits i will try it for sure and let U know. Only swap i am planning to do is of course R34 GTR front 😍.
    • Hey. Very valuable information about pitwork, I will pay attention when buying any consumable parts 🙏 As for the carpets - I got a handful of information from nengun, from which it appears that indeed the carpets for the driver's side are OEM. They are not able to show me any pictures due to the long chain of different sales entities but after I place the order, as soon as the goods arrive at the nengun warehouse from which they will send the shipment to me they can send me photos and if my purchase differs from OEM I can immediately return it / cancel the purchase. I think I will give it a try 😉. Of course i'll let you know what's what as soon as i get them P.s. I know the topic is not relevant to the thread, but both nengun and amayama have these SICK 😍 trunk room lamps available. Do you know anyone who ordered them? I need to have one in my car
