Hey all,

I know there is a million threads on Greenline. But i have searched with no luck in what i need...

Im about to buy $4795 of head parts for my gtr from Greenline Motorsports...

Im kinda worried how much i will be charged additional when the parts arrive

Greenline have said this:

'' From our experience in Australia, the import system works as follows:

Cost of products + 15% (maximum) import duties + cost of shipping + 10% GST.

Note that for some parts such as engine management, there is 0% duties and 3% for turbos. "

Does anyone know how to calculate all of this ??

Let me know

ASAP i have 5 days : )

thanx in advance

Have a look at the customs website. All the info you need is there:

just get some dodgy recipts made up for a cheaper price and dont pay any duties or gst, some people do it from what i heard

T88,

I certainly wouldn't follow this advice as is "always_me" going to pay the fine or do the time for what is a Federal offence? I would also advise against giving such stupid advice on what is a public forum...

Out.

I know you are not "Telling" him to do it, but "just get some dodgy recipts...." sounds like advice, which is what I advised against giving. A fair point I think...

Import duty is only 10% now ( from january 1 2005) the rest is correct .

Invoice total +10% duty +10% gst on the total , no duty on computer ( but only if you dont tell them its a car part ) the reduced duty on turbos is only if you tell them they are compressors ( not car parts ) . Don't do the dodgy invoice thing , if you get cought it will cost you heaps more and a criminal record as well .

Always me : 90% of people dont do the dodgy invoice thing , whenever i get something from o/s i pay the tax as i'm sure most people do .

Its all good i figured id take my chances and no matter what i need these parts so i might aswell Pay the TAX involved...

Thanx everyone :(

if customs pick up on what your importing you have no choice.... you pay the tax or you dont get your goods.... its easy as that.

You may be lucky though.... lots of people have had stuff come through without it even being looked at, lots of people have had their stuff checked, i guess it just depends on the day

    • Alrighty, I'll have to grab a couple pics and type out something soon in another post. I haven't driven a modern X no, this would be the first one really. Yeah the rental boxes are always cheap as chips right? So I'd doubt that anyone was handing out GTs to go and abuse. But I s'pose I could be wrong for sure. New cars these days though? Pretty unimpressed with what I see now; 20 years and all that, like you said. It just kind of worked out to have these two cars now. I'm pretty pleased with that, don't need much else. I'm sure you lads are right about the temps and for sure, you wouldn't have much time to drive 'em down there if you all were like me. I do hate sweating all over the seats though😆
    • Let large companies that are making money off selling kits do the preliminary engineering for you. If they all do -10, then that is all you'll ever need.
    • Hopefully it ends up being something manageable, like a hone, rather than a full bore—it would be a huge relief if it’s not as bad as it looks. Hang in there; these setbacks are annoying, but it sounds like you’re handling it as smartly as possible.
    • At the end of the day, it’s all about understanding the odds and being comfortable with the potential cost, whether it’s horsepower on a build or chips on a roulette table. And I have to say, the Laine example made me laugh—some people really do embrace that carefree, “roll and see” attitude!
    • Thanks MBS206, i got that PDF but got abit overhelm with all the connections and tracing of wires. I wasn't expecting to plug the dash harness anywhere. i was just going to use my electronics jumper wires to plug into the right pins like ECU power, ecu ground, ignition trigger etc... I do have a few ratchet straps locking it down tight. Fire extinguisher ready and only a small amount of fuel at a time, enough to submerge the pump.
