Turbo timer on a remote start setup?

Hello all.

I'm not sure if this thread belongs here but I didn't know where else to put it.

I have a Magicar 8000 Remote start car alarm system on my 97 Stagea RS4.

The day I took it to Autobarn to get it installed he told me I couldn't have a turbo timer with it.

I was wondering if this is true or not I get the feeling the guy just couldn't be bothered installing my turbo timer for me. He refused to install my RSM and boost gauge.

If it truly can't be done I have an Apexi turbo timer for sale.

Any help would be awesome.

Thanks guys.

Zane.

Autobarn? Take it to a proper stereo installers and see what they say. It can be done if they can be bothered. Although most alarms have a turbo timer built in. Mine is set for 20mins and I just turn it off with the remote fob whenever I want it to (It has auto-start).

(Interval can be set to any preset, I use 20mins because I can stay inside and let the Forged pistons warm up while I finishing breakfast :) )

that one has a timer on it.

you can use the one you have BUT you wont be able to arm the alarm. a bit of creative wiring can fix this issure BUT you may not be able to remote start the car.

best to use the one that is in the alarm.

It might also need a module to give yourself a button inside the car to press to enable the timer, if not then its just done by the key fob.

He is a lazy one i must say....you can by-pass the turbo timer for this... i took mine to autobarn..i had a 2 way pager alarm remote start one..took 2 hours to install...the electrician was in doubt about the turbo timer at first..but he has managed to by-pass it.

it can be done...just take it somewhere else dude.

it can be done mate, tahts what my installer told me too... he said he had 10 yrs experience, and told me that both turbo timers and remote start cant go hand in hand. i figured a way through it. first valet the car, that means leave the car running while u take out the keys, then arm the alarm, then shut off the car with the remote start feature, once u do this, the turbo timer will take the job and shuts off accordin to the time.. hope it helps.. mine worked

p/s: u have to arm the car first b3fore using the remote to shut the engine off.. coz, once u shut off the car before arming the car, u can only arm the car once the engine stops. and also remember to disable the ignition controlled door locks, if you dont, once the turbo timer is off, the car will disarm again ..

arrgh!

have any of you guys actually put one of these alarms in?

it has the timer feature on it. I have tried in vain to get the alarm to work properly with a timer. the alarm side is fine. its the remote start that will stuff it up.

in the end I told the fellow to use the one that was in it and set it for 3 minutes this was on a 32 gtst.

normal alarms and timers do work. I've done them for the past 15 years.
