Roll Call: Need a tune? Smoky's from Top Secret Japan is coming downunder

Recommended Posts

Thats right...Mr Nagata-san (Smoky) from Top Secret Japan

will be coming to Sydney, Australia to tune all NA and turbo cars using aftermarket

computers, he specialises in Apex'i PowerFC and HKS Fcons.

the more people organised the cheaper it will work out for us all...I will be bringing him here to tune my car, so thought I would offer it out there to people

who are also in the market for a tune.

A bit about Smoky, he drives and owns the big gold Supra and known for causing a media frenzy a few years back for clocking 340km/h through the M1 expressway in England.

He is tuned alot of very hi-performance and modified vechiles and travel's offen tuning cars all around the globe. This will be his first time to Australia to tune cars so we need to make him and his crew welcome.

Whether or not your car is making 100kw to 500kw he will be able to acheive the maximam performance and power curves to suit your driving style, whether that be drift, drag, circuit, touge or a everyday commuter.

I am organising interest in the once in a long time opportunity specially for the Skylines Australia club.

What I will be organising is transport for the Top Secret Crew, accommodation, airfairs and access to a 4wd dyno. They in return will be bringing their knowledge, skill and software to tune our cars.

please feel free to PM me for any more details.

Price will be depending on amount of time taken x number of cars and how modified the vechile is. (I am hoping to organise this for 2nd or 3rd week in May)

from past experiences will be cheaper than getting it tuned by workshops around Sydney.

I will be taking numbers and a deposit for those people interested.

hmmm, i'm interested but will have to let you know in a week or so as I have some other plans that may conflict. Great idea though, smokey is a master :P

ok #16 people genuinely interested so far. I will be organising dates over the weekend.

and confirming the exact price,

It will be Mild Tune, (no cam tuning)

and Full Tune (will include Cam tuning)

also depending on extent of mods and it requires a 4wd or 2wd dyno.

hope this helps, to put your name down on the list please email [email protected]

there will be no que jumping.

    • So for the wide band is a Bosch 4.9 correct for the Link G4+ along with a Can bus? Just get the Link gear or is generic ok too? Eg here: LINK LINK DIGITAL WIDEBAND CAN MODULE WITH BOSCH 4.9 SENSOR : KYP Performance House
    • Bit difficult to follow. Have a look below and see what the standard R32 layout was like. Note there was a restrictor in place immediately before "turbocharged pressure control solenoid" that, if removed, magically got you 1 bar boost.
    • I might be way off the mark here.. there must be a T junction under the manifold. That takes manifold pressure through a check valve prior to the T, one side splits out to this bleed off orifice, the other straight to the wastegate actuators.
    • Carrying out some engine due diligence before my first drive in a 260RS that has been in storage for 10+ years, and found two lines that are susposed to be plumbed into the boost control solenoid. One of the lines (the wastegate boost supply line) to actuate the gates, had a bolt in one end blocking it. The other line (main boost signal line) from the very rear of the intake manifold (RB26DETT) and runs up to the boost controller had this pill in the end of it as seen in photos. Other than the obvious (T28 Ceramic turbos might well be cooked)  Can anyone shed any light on if there is any validity at all with this mod, bleeding a constant fixed rate of manifold boost pressure off through this 3mm hole?  Is it deliberate?  Was this a 90s Jap mod done to RB26's? Or has someone just fitted this without any idea of what happens to ceramic T28s if they are not gate controlled?
