Hey, not wanting to post an ad or anything, but just let people know that if they want somewhere that will give a very competitive price on servicing, my uncle Neil Barker has just started a small business complying (mostly R32s, couple 33s) skylines and doing general maintenance. He's had over 30 years of mechanics and drag and circuit racing experience, had over 15 years major dealership service exp., built his own 11 sec concourse-condition Monaro from the ground up, and loves cars to death.

I can personally guarantee his honesty and ability. I know with imports especially it's hard sometimes to find somewhere that knows imports, is reliable, and doesn't charge an arm and a leg. He's accredited and everything of course.

Anyway, I get him to do all work on mine and I'm more than happy with it - not wanting to make this an ad or anything, just letting ppl know about what I think is a useful service. If interested give him a call at

"Custom Brakes & Automotive" 3848 7788, Mob: 0432 358 208

workshop is in Moorooka.

Thanks mate, yeah Neil is an all-round good bloke too and if you talk to him about your plans for a car you can see him get all excited about it, comes from being a performance freak himself :burnout:

Should get some pics of his 1970 Monaro on here...it's an absolute BEAST...rebuilt it from a shell

I also just think it's a shame sometime that people buy an import and then get caught in a situation where the Nissan dealer won't touch it, it's a performance car so you don't want to take it to the local budget dodgy mechanic but taking it to a specialty import tuning shop costs an arm and a leg just for basic maintenance stuff. Should be places you can go that know how to treat your car properly but don't rip you off.

Oh yeah Neil does some sweet braided hoses and brake stuff too btw.

Hey Bryan - not sure mate, just give him a call though he'll be able to let you know. He's a very nice guy and as he's trying to start this business up he'll be more than happy to hear from any prospective customers.

Dave - give him a call, I'm sure you won't be disappointed if you take your car there.

Excellent! :P Yeah those 32 GTRs are awesome huh? A number of the ones they've had through there have been 500hp+ ex-circuit racers etc...I truly wish I'd held off on getting my car til I had seen them, I hadn't even known he was going into business with a guy importing skylines til I got my car!

Thanks for the post mate.

Just took the R32 GTS4 to Neil this week for some maintenance. Car is running sweet and the bill was more than reasonable.

Neil spent some time showing us some of the lines he had there (highly enjoyable!) and seemed happy to have us talk his ear off about our cars..lol

I'm stoked to find a good mech 'and' a genuine bloke who didn't try bs me about my car (being a chick with a sport cars this was refreshing!)

(even got to cuddle the puppy for 10mins :P

Lookin forward to getting him to do some work on the Tori now.

cheers

    • KW only offers a set for the R32 GTR. Popular options are D2 racing, Ksport or Öhlins. I have a D2 Racing coilover set, though I don't know for sure which one.
    • Well, the good news is you have more than one very good option for new coilovers in and around your country. Worth the drive over to KW to talk about GTR stuff.
    • Fair enough, I am in no way a tire expert so I'm not familiar with all the terms and conditions. I'll definitely note down the AD09 to potentially try in the future. Rain is not too big of a concern for now as I will probably only drive in the rain when I have to. And considering I still lack experience driving the GTR I'd more than likely take it easy too. I have coilovers in the car but as I barely got to drive so far I never bothered to even check if they are adjustable haha. The suspension is almost entirely old and worn as well so I suppose when I eventually fix that in the future that would make a huge difference.
    • There's not a great deal to report here .... except ...... FOR .... LSD!!!  I bought a Quaife LSD from the UK and shipped it here .... Wish I'd just bought locally cause the shipping and duty was $700! But there were so many diffs used in the E90s I just wanted to be absolutely certain I was getting the right one so I spoke with a supplier in the UK who builds race cars and they have heaps of experience with the E90s.  I pulled the diff out which was seriously awesome - I've never done anything like that before, I must have watched 1000 videos on YT about it as well as consulting the Bentley manual. It was super easy in the end. The diff was delivered to the awesome folks at Hornsby Diffs and will be back in a few weeks. I also replaced the diff bushings with some Nolathane ones.  Really looking forward to getting it back and getting back to the track or even the skidpan.
    • yeah... the 13kg/mm springs weren't always in there, I had 10kg/mm but doing a few SMSP commanded heavier front springs. It's so good now going into T1 and T2, just need more seat time and real tyres.
