Hi all,

Just finishing up my RB20det wiring and chasing a diagram for 2 of the plugs that head from the ecu over to the drivers side (pictured). Also after their corrosponding ecu pinouts (have the ecu pinout diagram already). Have searched a fair bit but cannot seem to find the diagram for these 2.... this pic is a little crappy, i can get better ones if needed...

Thanks :)

Ed.

Ed,

I have recently traced the wires on a manual loom. Can't quite figure the orientation of the photo, is it the original R32 loom? Is it an automatic loom? I think I know the plugs you are talking about but if you could take some close-up photos of the 2 plugs I can confirm.

Cheers

You are going to have to trace them back to the ecu/engine loom, i never found a diagram for the under dash plugs. Pick up a cheap multimeter with continuity tester to make it easier.

It looks to be a late model r32 gts-t loom (same as my old one) and the plugs have a combination of tach out, fuel pump trigger, water temp gauge, speed sensor input, all the consult outputs and a heap of other stuff i cant remember.

The other 2 plugs are mainly for the wipers from memory with a few other bits and pieces thrown in.

Somewhere in the 4 plugs there is the wiring for the dropping resistor for the fuel pump speed control, the output wire for the fuel pump speed, 2 wires for some water temp sensor for the climate control and a couple that run to the main power plug in the engine bay.

Edit: that looks like the dash part of the loom? Is that Skyline or Silvia. Shouldn't need to remove that for the conversion unless you want to use the RB cluster..

Those plugs are listed on the RB20/RB26 wiring diagram. They both share similar colours however..

Blue/black for water temp gauge

black/pink for fuel pump

yellow/green for speed

red/yellow for tacho.

Think these are right.. or close :)

To find the right plug of the two, check continiuity between the temp sender (single blue/black wire) in the engine bay and the blue/black wire under the dash.

All the wires under the dash should be the same colour on the Silvia as the RB. The only wire not there is the fuel pump black/pink. The Black/pink wire on the Silvia is in the engine bay. I think you need to run power to your O2 sensors etc also.

    • For race cars, this is one part where I find having the roll cage bar having gone through a hole in the floor better than the build it up on a ledge inside... The Merc I help on, the main hoop ends are marked on the car, and the jack is marked... Jack goes under a few inches and lifts one whole side of the car up... Removes that fight for long slim jacks for race car duties!   My biggest issue for the daily drivers I work on, is my jacks don't go high enough. The jacks start out on a few blocks, jack it up, then start a second jack under it on more blocks, and then I can get an axle stand under it. My axle stands are presently in use, and are nearly fully extended. The car is sitting with barely more than a cm of clearance to get the wheel off the studs! Sarah's Kluger is the same, as it has an ungodly amount of droop available in the suspension and a distinct lack of good jacking points!
    • Happy? Yep, my to do list is getting shorter and shorter. Either this light approaching is the end of the tunnel, or I'm about to be hit by a train... Ha ha ha   Also, Duncan isn't that far out of town that you need to make a multi day drive out of it. 😛
    • Sorry I meant that we are building the EH for a client.
    • LOL, when one "money pit" is never enough Noice, and excellent work mate
    • I have more than enough digging, laying blocks, moving gravel, airrating, feeding and top soiling the grass, and setting up the veggie gardens growing some seedlings,  and then removing all the unused rock to keep me busy for the next few months at least,  hopefully the rain stops soon so I can get a few hours in this arvo, but, before that Sunday is washing day, is every body happy, you bet your life we are Nice country road day drives are a day off whenever I'm muscle sore from all the landscaping at the moment, but, more epic multiple day drives will start once the majority of the big jobs outside are completed
