.As the title says, probably a dumb question but just wondering if trying to cool the actual turbo would help in making power? I've been reading a few books on turbo's and obviously heat is a big issue. some of the pictures of turboed racing engines showed the turbo red hot. Has anyone ever made a turbo with something like a heatsink on it, or wrapped it in copper wire and pumped coolant or something around it? Or would that be just pointless?

Umm, No, it won't help.

As aimply as I can, keeping the turbo, and susequently the exhaust gasses hot or more energised maintains flow velocity so improving power potential.

There is very little heat transfer between the turbine and the compressor.

The heat is put into the air by compressing it.
