BigMicky
Now I know this topic has been done and I have done my research but am left a bit confused.... I know the 33 GTR crank has something different with the oil pump drive that gives greater reliablity. Can I put the 33 GTR crank straight into my 32 GTR engine? my crank has spun a rod bearing on number 5 and needs to be replaced so I though I might as well upgrage at the same time. the crank can probably be repaired, but I think its worth the cash to just get a new (or good secondhand) one. Your thoughts?? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/74087-gtr-cranks-32-vs-33/ Share on other sites
[[d a n n y]]
mate i've already been through your path. in my garage i have 2 RB26 cranks sitting 1.R32 GTR RB26 with a crank in the middle 2.R33 GTR Vspec RB26 with a crack found after crack test. (second hand) they are the same material but the pump driver is wider so there is less chance off oilstartvation. i currently have a R33 GTR N1 in my RB26 wiating to go in. the 33 crank will be a straight in straight out for the 32 block. invest in a new crank well worth the money.. but if u cant. get the second hand 1 crack tested and buy it. u can not see any internal cranks Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/74087-gtr-cranks-32-vs-33/#findComment-1361248 Share on other sites

discopotato03
Yes I'd like to know too , I gather the later cranks are wider across the flats that drive the oil pump . Or is there a difference in diameter as well ? Cheers A . Your thoughts?? If your crank is still ok ( no cracks ) besides no 5 pin , you can have it rebuilt . They dip it in hard chrome to built up the pin and then have it regound . Its not cheap though as its time consuming , around 100-150 to do that one pin then another 150 to regrind the lot , big end and main pins . Just another option that we have used many times before on cranks and cams .
