Hi guys,

I think i have a problem. when i put my foot to the floor in my R33 GTS-t it's not reving out very smoothly. There tends to be a couple of flat spots between 3000 and 5500 RPM. Is this the problem discussed in the coil problem threads or something different as it isn't backfireing or anything, just lacking a bit of go.

There aren't any real mods to the car, just air filter and exhaust.

Any help greatly appreciated

Since you cannot hear 'POP' sounds, its not a backfiring problem.

Sounds like a boost leak problem to me....have you checked your piping.

Try to use a boost gauge to tell...this will tell you if it is.

Does your engine splutter like its out of fuel?

You running stock boost?

Yeah, i'm running stock boost.

It could be a fuel problem.

I'll take the coil packs out and inspect them anyway then check my hoses, then the fuel pump.

I just hope it's not one of those thing that i end up replacing everything before finding the problem!!!!

    • You totally couldn't have that many cars running on Ethanol. You'd be employing two full time mechanics just to keep going through the vehicles, flushing old fuel out, and possibly changing anything the ethanol has eaten between the months it would be between drives.
    • A fine grit media blast would make short work of it after you tape up everything  I grabbed a cheapo Ozito one from bunnings for about $30 that I used to clean up some old brake calipers and some brackets Messy, but fast Wear PPE though, stuff dusts up and is really bad for your lungs and eyes
    • It's not true. RBs only have one gearbox bolt pattern. I mean, I was surprised that there was a different clutch bolt count on the weak NAs, but that's on the flywheel, which is not part of the engine.
    • They just said 40 grit lol I wasn't going to try and get them to do it, needs more care then they would give it.
    • Hi I wrote to the xtreme clutch and they wrote me this: Thanks for contacting us. I already spoke with engineering team and was told that RB25DET with a non-turbo fs5w71c gearbox would not work. It would not hold the horsepower and does not bolt to that engine without some sort of adapter plate or modified bellhousing.     I know about the power(it will hold stock power) But i rly dont know about not bolting to the engine without some adaptor?? Is this true? I thought it should mate up without any problems...
